*raises hand* MAJOR Deftones fan right here.
I'm so jealous of you getting to see them next month! They're tied with Pink Floyd for my favorite band.

Oh boy oh boy, went to see the Deftones last night at Newcastle Academy. Quite simply, they rocked. Almost got crushed in the mosh pit, but it was well worth it.

Deftones are a metal band from the States that can be best described as a cross between heavy metal, new wave and ambient music. If you need a place to start, pick up Around The Fur and White Pony.

My two favorites are White Pony and Adrenaline.
Adrenaline is considerably rougher than White Pony, but that's why I love it.

I have heard one of their songs, "Back to School". I hated it. Sorry.

never heard of 'em.
just out of curiosity ScaryDream, do you like Syd Barret or post-Syd Barret Floyd better? I think of them as two seperate bands, personally. Barrets stuff was more Jeffeson Airplane but more spaced out (if possible), whereas post-Barret seemed like a cross between the Grateful Dead and Genesis. Kinda.

I like them both a lot, though if I had to choose, I'd say post-Barret. I still love the spaced-out, psychadelic stuff, but I think the post-Syd music speaks to me more.
