Here's another one: I really like the closing theme song to Red Dwarf. I prefer it to the instrumental opening version, since in a strange kind of way I find the lyrics to be somewhat emotional. Here they are:
Its cold outside, There's no kind of atmosphere, I'm all alone, More or less. Let me fly, Far away from here, Fun, fun, fun, In the sun, sun, sun. I want to lie, Shipwrecked and comatose, Drinking fresh, Mango juice, Goldfish shoals, Nibbling at my toes, Fun, fun, fun, In the sun, sun, sun, Fun, fun, fun, In the sun, sun, sun. Always manages to stir something in me.

Oh wait, we have yet another addition to my list of glaring omissions.
In this case the wounded party is Lovejoy. I love this quaint little theme tune, it brings back so many memories for me.

Wow so many to choose from, I'll have to split it up into different sections.
Today it's: Sitcoms. (Ten of my Favorites, in no particular order) Sanford and Son: Quincy Jones is one of the greatest musical talents of all time and it shows in this unforgetable intro song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WqazleR3FE Night Court: Mike Post puts the bass guitar and saxaphone to good use in awesome beyond words intro song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WRCggZ3GQU The Jeffersons: When I eventually "Move On Up" this is the song I'll be playing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kb6ErLPt4t8 Cheers: Making your way in the world today takes everything you got.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPx1l...eature=related The Simpsons: Wether you like the show or you don't you have to admit the theme is the epitomy of "sitcom" (Plus how can you hate a theme that slightly changes every week.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brh6KRvQHBc (These are the special live action credits, first seen on British TV.) Welcome Back Kotter: Welcome back your dreams were your ticket out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3pEy...eature=related (This was the only version of the song, I could find on Youtube....aw well a little Naruto never hurt anyone.) Get Smart: Almost missed the list, by "this" much. :p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvMj5LuT5hk M*A*S*H: This song works so much better without the lyrics. IMHO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akfIaeFDfX4 South Park: Primus rocks...oh yes they do, they do indeed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6268nvdiqso The Muppet Show: In the immortal words of Kermit the Frog Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uh_aG5MzPVM

anyway, The Adventures of Pete and Pete: Well, actually, Pete and Pete's soundtrack as a whole. Polaris, Drop Nineteens, Apples in Stereo, Chug, The Magnetic Fields, There were so much great indie bands that contributed to music to that show and I would've never heard of them if it wasn't for Pete and Pete. http://youtube.com/watch?v=LBq_dU1ltIs&feature=related Sealab 2021: SEEEEEALAAAAAB, UNDERNEATH THE WAAAATER. I never actually got into this show (Never actually sat down and watched an episode, but I love all the other Williams Street shows so I might check it out) but I love the theme song oh so much. http://youtube.com/watch?v=k5SiJM4sbqI Home Movies: Another great Adult Swim show. I'm a big fan, can't you tell by my avatar? Again, this is one of those shows that had a kick-awesome soundtrack. Brendon Small is a musical virtuoso whose talents should not be ignored. The link i'm about to post isn't the Home Movies theme, but an instrumental song that played at the end of one episode. Very ambient stuff. http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZapMIrDJxSA The Weird Al Show: This song is basically Weird Al's sense of humor in a nutshell. YEAH YEAH, YEAH YEAH http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ggc7fBqLRho

Here's a favorite nobody's mentioned, or likely even heard of. Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors, an obscure 1980's anime, was an all-time favorite of mine, both the theme and the show. It was nothing more than a promotional vehicle for a line of toys that flopped disasterously but I enjoyed it immensely and still have a lot of the episodes on tape.

In the spirit of obsessive log ins and silly posts, I'll throw my two cents into this thread well containing great theme songs. Here goes!
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends: The token response, but in spite of that, it really is a captivating and memorable theme that fits the show. Ben 10: Infectiously catchy song here. It hooks on and doesn't let go, that's how catchy it is. Chowder: What an endearing and lively intro tune. Nice. Garfield and Friends: A nostalgic, personal favorite of mine: Always good to hear it. The Soup: Ditto, minus the nostalgic part. The Fairly Oddparents: It reminds me of a musical bit from an old Hollywood movie: Very dramatic, bold and flashy. I know there's more, but I can't think of them right now. |

I'd like to add my own anime favourite (after seeing Cass' post) and post this which I don't think anyone has heard of:
Steel Angel Kurumi It's is SUCH a catchy tune and a great anime in its own right. I really enjoyed it.
