Well, I had one of those Fire drill things on the first day at school
The fun thing was that after my teacher giving info about the firealarm on the first day of school one of my friends said that it would be cool to have a fire alarm going off at the first day - which happened. It was awesome. |

We have earthquake drills, too, since South Carolina actually sits right on top of some really major seismic faults, and we have had some BIG(like 8.6)quakes in the past, one of which totally detroyed the city of Charleston in the late 1800's. We have several small ones every year, which is good since it releases energy along the faults. I watched the news, but there was no mention of the situation. They're still covering a case where a nutcase kidnapped a 14-year-old girl and kept her hostage in an underground bunker for nearly two weeks, before she was found over the weekend, still thankfully alive, and he was arrested. His MOTHER and his common-law wife(whose 12-year-old daughter he'd molested before this)were both HELPING him, bringing food to him and his prisoner and trying to throw the police off the trail by calling in false "leads" and such. pitbulllady |

My school has bomb threats occasionally (about one every other year or so)... It's quite scary, especially when they won't tell anyone what's going on. They tried to tell the little kids that they were just spraying for bugs and we needed to be out of the way, but they just plain didn't tell anything to us.
It's freaky. -Marty

Well, I got the low-down on what happened today. The gunman was actually a gunWOMAN, or girl, actually. The initial report got it backwards; the 17-year-old girl took a MAN hostage, using a high-powered rifle, and was threatening to shoot him and then herself. Seems she was mentally unstable, and had been more or less stalking this guy for several weeks, though he did not even know her. She'd become obsessed with him, and when she found out he had a girlfriend, she flipped out, broke into his appartment, and took him hostage. Police talked her out, though, and the Guys In White Suits came and took her away, and no one got hurt.

Gald to see this ended peacefully, and I hope this poor unstable person gets the help she needs.
