Default Happy 65th birthday...

...to Mighty Mouse!

The Terrytoons superhero, a blatant mix of Superman and Mickey Mouse, made his cartoon debut in the theatrical short The Mouse Of Tomorrow under the original name Super Mouse. But Coo Coo Comics already had an established character named Super Mouse, so two years later, the Terrytoons character was renamed the alliterative Mighty Mouse.

As bad a rap as Terrytoons--and Mighty Mouse--have had with critics and cartoon aficianados as well, Mighty Mouse did in fact receive an Academy Award nomination, for the 1945 cartoon Gypsy Life.
