You Never Think it Would Happen Close to Home
I have buried people in sobriety and recovery, but I never thought I would have to do it so close to home and family. We lost a dear friend in our family, to an overdose. I am angry - not at her, but the disease alcoholism, or addiction itself.
I remember when this woman was born, and I watched her grow up the first 15 years (lost sight after she became an adult). The last time I saw her, was in 2001 at her father's (my Uncle's) 60th birthday. Even then, she appeared distant although friendly. I will stop now, because I am at a loss of words...  |

I lost a friend to alcoholism too. That's why it upsets me when people brag about how drunk they like to get or how drunk they want to get at an event etc. Its nothing to be proud of.

I'm sorry.
 I knew people who've died from overdoses as well, and I know that it's a really hard thing to deal with. I really hope you and those close to you and your late friend are able to get through this, I really do. |

My deepest condolences to you about the loss of your friend, it's always sad to see someone cut down in the prime of their lives due to personal demons.
