Celebrity Connections
OK, this thread idea popped into my head.
Basically, have you ever met a celebrity in person? Or saw one in the distance (in other words walking around the area)? Have blood relations? Have friends that know celebs? Well tell us here!! When my mom worked in Rockefeller Center 3 decades ago, she said she saw a few celebrites walking around or on the ice rink in the winter. But none of them actually spoke to her. When I went to NYC at age 7, I got to see Rosie O'Donell(?) being annoyed to death by paparazzi as I walked around Times Sqaure. T'was weird.

I once took a picture with Justo Lamas, a singer from Argentina, when my Spanish Club and I went to see him in concert. He also signed my shirt and gave me an autographed picture.
Do foreign celebrities count for this? I want to know if this encounter counts as a celebrity meeting. If not, then I know a girl who met Corbin Bleu when during her vaction in Nebraska. |

Well I've *seen* lots of them, at lectures, live shows, concerts...I used to live in Hollywood so there were a fair few floating around there making appearances. Bill Cosby was the speaker at my university graduation, and I met Ray Bradbury and Doug Adams at my university bookstore (Bradbury ruled and Adams was kind of a jerk). I got to hang out with Glenn Shadix once (I run the big cartoon Beetlejuice website and my friend Shaun ran the movie one as well as Glenn's site, and I hung out with Shaun and Glenn at Universal Studios one day). He was really nice. And cute. And of course I've met folks who work on Foster's, but y'all know that. There's probably more, I don't mean to leave anyone out, but I'm kinda wiped out right now.

My old middle-school friend got a job as an extra in the show Prison Break, and has met all the actors/actress' including Wentworth Miller- TWICE!
Do concerts count? I never actually got autographs, but I've made eye contact with Steve Greene, Clay Cross and Josh Groban. And I graduated from high school along with two members of the Christian group Virtue, one of whom is now married to one of the members of the R&B/Gospel group Take 6. As for relatives, I'm related to Alexander Hamilton, and Mary Queen of Scots (and since royalty has been inter-marrying all over Europe for centuries, through her I'm related to the rest of Europe's monarchies in some way or other, which is a cool thought to humor, but very minuscule since it was so long ago)(also, practically everyone will be able to trace their ancestors back to some type of royalty if they go back far enough, so it's not that big a deal). Still fun to think about, though.

I've seen many entertainers: from Sugar Ray (the band), Smash Mouth, Live, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Doobie Brothers, Amy Lee, and many others. I didn't actually meet any of them face to face. I've met anime voice actors Sandy Fox, Vic Mignogna, Crispin Freeman, and I did see Johnny Yong Bosch (also known as one of the Power Rangers in the 90s). I've met Rob Paulsen, Jess Harnell, Richard Horvitz, Danny Antonucci, Mr. Warburton, Joe Murray, Maurice LaMarche, Chris Sanders, Sam Vincent, and Peter Kelamis. Others I've seen but not communicated with are: Carlos Alazaraqui, Michael Bell, Joe Alaskey, and Stan (the Man) Lee. And of course, a good chunk of the cast and crew members of Foster's.

I've met Nancy Cartwright in person (the voice of Bart Simpson, among others). She was making an appearence at the London Animation Art Gallery in 1999, and when my dad and I heard we jumped on a train and joined the many flocks of people heading down to see her. She had some ultra-suspicious bodyguards who were keen to harvest whatever items of Simpsons merchandise the visitors might be bringing in with them (since the AAG only wanted her to autograph their own stock), but she herself was very nice; I got to exchange a few friendly words with her, and shake her hand.
I've also met Tony Benn, a socialist politian over here in Britain. I'd gone to this speech of his along with my parents a few years ago at a local theatre, after which I met him in the lobby and he complimented me on my Gremlins t-shirt. Nice man.

I haven't really met anyone SUPER famous or anything like that. I've met Bozo the clown when I was little (like 8 or 9) because I got on Bozo buckets game. I made it to the second bucket but lost on the 3rd, I still have some of the toy prizes they gave me for the first 2 buckets. I also met Scott McNiel, voice of Piccolo (original) from DBZ and the guy who plays 4 characters on Beast Wars.
Dinobot, Rattrap, Silverbolt, and Waspinator. He was SO much fun! He had lots of fun talking about the past shows he did and he was so enthusiastic over the fans, he was the nicest guy I've ever met. I even got him to scream out "Dinobot Maximize!". It was the best anime con memory I've had yet. Sadly for me though I didn't really meet anyone else famous after that. However my Uncle in California is an assistant for Jim Burrows, the guy who directed "Will and Grace" on NBC and he's worked on shows like That 70's Show, Drew Carey Show, The Class, and Back to you. We don't really talk to him anymore because of bad blood in the family but before that happened, he told us A LOT about the stories of the celebrities he met, he met: Britney Spears, Madonna, Sharon Osbourne, Warren Beatty, Jeff Goldbloom, John Cleese, James Earl Jones, Cher, Wayne Knight, and Gene Wilder. I'm sure he met others since the show had a lot of guest star celebrities but those were the only ones he told me stories about. He said his favorite actor to talk to was Warren Beatty.

The only real person you could call a celebrity that I met was the host of a local cooking show. She was brought over to my school to help teach a cooking class for a day. It was so long ago that I can't even remember the details.
