Um, I've got it, so I can just walk over and give it to you.

If anybody else wants it, I can post it on my site.

I thought I would bump this thread, because I just saw the "Empath" on DVD (I have all the original series on DVD). I am starting to watch this stuff again!

Frankie_fan, this is AWESOME! I cannot wait for the complete construction of this site. What I have seen so far, and heard - brings back memories!

Not to worry, all taken care of.

I have a lot of fond memories of the show. All the shows actually, from the original classic through Enterprise. One that's often overlooked, however, is the cartoon version, produced by Filmation in I think the mid 1970's. CN or the Sci-Fi channel had the reruns at one time but that was years ago. There were some very good episodes in that version, which featured the original actor's voices as I recall. I should pop over to eBay or some such place, see if it's on DVD yet; it's definitely worth watching again.

Cass, the animated version of Star Trek is on DVD (has a case it comes in), it was released sometime in late '06 I do believe. I have seen it at Best Buy.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago. For a cartoon made in the year I was born, it's not that bad. The scripts compare well with the best (and the worst) of the original series (in other words, God shows up every fifth episode). The one thing that annoyed me was the soundtrack--they had a very limited set of musical themes to work with:

Kirk:Spock, what do we do?
Spock: I have no idea.
Soundtrack: BUM-BUM-BUM!
Commercial.

Filmation was able to save costs by making a few complex shots (the Enterprise banking right, Captain Kirk looking forward, then left) and repeating them as much as possible. You don't notice these tricks much, except for the fact that about half of the dialog is blocked out so no mouths are moving on screen (close-up of the communicator instead, that kind of thing).

A couple of writers have commentary on some episodes.

My favorite episode from the cartoon was "Slaver Weapon", based on a story by sci-fi novelist Larry Niven and incorporating parts of his universe into the Star Trek universe. I had read somewhere that, had Enterprise continued for another season or two, the producers and writers were giving serious thought to expanding considerably on that idea, possibly even setting the 6th season in the Man/Kzin wars. I don't think it would really have been Star Trek anymore had they done so but it would still have been a fascinating thing to see. Who knows? Perhaps, if we're incredibly fortunate, someday the gang who produces the Trek movies will see fit to send Picard and his crew to Ringworld. Now that's a movie I would love to see!
