Part of me prefers hand-drawn animation, and it is a pity it seems snubbed nowadays- with the exception of Pixar (and many occurrences with Dreamworks), CGI seems a little soulless.

I'm with you there! I'm dying for someone to make an animated movie that truly pays homage to the art of hand drawn animation. I don't mean this stuff were animators use computers to colour and perfect drawn animation either, I mean back to pencils, paints and animation cells. Animated pieces done like this had so much character to the point that you could almost tell who was animating what scene you are currently watching.

I'll live with it. Truthfully, I think the Academy hates science fiction.

Personally glad Avatar didn't win. Since Hurt Locker won I get to say I worked for a company that made an oscar winning film.

That's definately the bright side for me. At least Avatar didn't become the new 'Titanic'!

Finally, the Dude (Jeff Bridges) get's his due.

It also was great to see Micheal Giacchino get the win, IMO he is one of the best music men in Hollywood, I would certainly put him up there with the likes of John Williams, Bill Conti and James Horner. Up was one of his best scores to date, that song that played during the montage of Carl and Ellie's life together was one of the most touching things in the history of music.

That one actually surprised me. I was hoping for Sherlock Holmes to get the win (Discombobulate is one of my favourite scores), and I was really hoping that Avatar wouldn't win! But yeah, I agree that it was great to see Michael Giacchino take the Oscar this year.
