For those of you whom are still in the dark,
300 was a Frank Miller graphic novel and a major Hollywood picture (Based on said novel) that came out this past March, about the real life Battle of Thermopylae in 480BC. Here is a wikipedia link that talks about the real battle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Thermopylae
