It's entirely possible that she goes out, be it on a date or with Kathy or other friends, more than we're aware of. However, we don't see that because it doesn't make for interesting episodes. I agree that she's lonely, yeah, but perhaps not quite as much as we might think.
On the subject of Wilt and the prom, if I see a fight or anything like a fight developing in here on that subject, I will lock this thread until everybody calms down, and this is the only warning I'm going to give. Scream about it via PM if you must. Got it?

you know I like to joke about Wilt fan girls. I should keep my mouth shut from now on.
It depends on what you mean by lonely Marsh, lonely with a relationship or plain lonely. Plain lonely is not the case she has Kathy & probably more friends. I haven't seen the DVD yet so I don't know what she said but lonely with a relationship is probably the case. But who says the commentaries are canon? |

Canon is a tricky thing. It's a consensus of both fans and creators. But that definitely seems like a question to ask the creators.
I would say it's canon at best, fanon at least. |

I for one believe it to be true simply because, this isn't the first time this sort of thing has come up. Frankie has slim to zero outside connections to the world outside of her grand mother. Mac, Madame Foster, Wilt and others have all shown connections to other people in the rest of the world.
Be it friends, enemies, family, they all have someone. Frankie has no one. Her friend Kathy (who remains invisible) is the only sign Frankie has anyone outside of Foster's. But Frankie never has any visitors, she never gets any letters, and she is always working at a very much thankless job. Frankie seemed to be walking on air after she met Dylan, and even though he turned to be an ass, I don't think Frankie has ever been that happy in the shows entirety. I think Frankie is lonely in the general basic sense. She really doesn't have anyone to tell her troubles to or confide anything personal to. Madame Foster isn't much of a confided source, Frankie barely was able to hold much of coherent conversation with her in "Setting a president". I believe the commentary because Frankie does seem lonely. Her job gives off that image as well. She does nothing but clean, cook, and care with little thanks. Frankie doesn't have even a companion to console with outside of Mac, and she usually is with Mac when she needs his help unwinding the current "problem of the day". That's not to say she dislikes Mac, we all know she likes him, but I do think Frankie feels lonely and in need of emotional attention. I think Frankie is lonely in the areas of love and just the general sense, I don't think she feels appreciated sometimes, about her work or her appearance. Even her funny little "I'm punk rock" line from Bendy's episode. It was funny, but it also showed Frankie's sense of having to validate her own values. Frankie didn't even have anyone she could talk to about Goofball in that episode of all most which don't speak of. That's why I don't find her words on the commentary to be that far from the truth, and why she really does need someone in one way or another.

I've noticed that as well. Frankie is almost like the ignored member of the Foster's "family". Madame Foster and Mr. Herriman get all the glamour and atttention while Frankie gets breadcrumbs at best. And the "punk rock" bit could possibly indicate that she has some painful insecurities hidden inside.
I'd also like to point out that while Frankie has Kathy and other outside friends, she has little-to-none time to interact with them in person due to the nature of her job. Mac, Goo, Madame Foster and all the IFs have plenty of free time by comparison and thus are able to form consistent outside relationships; Frankie doesn't have that luxury at all. And, like Mr. M said, she's NEVER gotten any visitors in the series so far(except for Dylan). After reading Mr. M's last few posts, I'm convinced more than ever that they should highlight some sort of bond between her and Mac; to give Frankie some sort of recurring partner and friend throughout the series. I'm still waiting for the episode in which they unite and save the day. Last edited by Voxxyn; 04-04-2007 at 10:33 AM. |

Of course, we haven' t even seen any parts of Franklie's social life besides "FMD". So we won't know for sure until an episode has a bit of this. I personally think Frankie atleast has more friends than Kathy. That's just how I want my characters to be, all happy. Well..... except that elephant nosed jerk & that 'I'm so cool I wear brief' dude & the "I destroy everything & blame it on people' IF. |

I think the lack of any real background on Frankie is just due to the same reason as Madam Foster and Mr.Harraman: They don't know how they want to tell their storys quite yet and want to hold off on them so they don't disapoint. Who knows, maybe they're aware of the backlash that resulted from Imposters and don't want to make the same mistake twice?
I say give it time. I'm sure that we'll see some great things for Frankie in the future. On a side note: I stumbled upon a top ten toon girl list on Retrojunk. Frankie is #7 out of ten. http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgur...3Doff%26sa%3DN
