The first ever Worldwide Tarantula Day! - Never Forgotten: a Foster's Home Community

Today is the first ever "Worldwide Tarantula Day," a day to teach about, learn about, and appreciate tarantulas. The date was chosen because of the numbers (8/8/08) and was started by some members over at Arachnoboards. The official website is here.

Yeh Happy Tarantula day to you too and happy Tarantulas for everybody! I can see this catching on. Chocolate Tarantulas, cuddly Tarantulas. More dangerous animals get such tributes.

Oh shuggles, it's past midnight now. Another whole year to wait till next Tarantula day.

Only tarantulas aren't dangerous. That's why we have Tarantula Day, to let people know that. I wish I had the money to celebrate by buying a new tarantula; there's a guy within an hour of me who has an adult female Avicularia versicolor, but with school starting up next week and me having to buy all of my supplies, there's no money left for any new spideys. I did spend much of the day, except when I had to cook lunch, with my Avicularia metallica chilling out under my hair on my shoulder, though. She is pretty cuddly, after all, and as soft as any bunny rabbit. I figured I'd better put her up while I was at the stove just in case she picked that moment to jump; fried tarantula was NOT on my menu!

I coincidentally have eight tarantulas right now, so I guess I'm set for WTD. (Don't want any more though!)

Happy Tarantula Day! I don't see myself ever owning one, but I think they're pretty cool to look at. Some of their colors are outright beautiful. So sure, I'll celebrate their existence.
