Incidentally, there was another earthquake in Lincoln back in 1185 which damaged the local Cathedral so significantly that all but the West front had to be demolished and rebuilt entirely from scratch. Just throwing that in there.

I take it that the Cathedral was ok this time round? I was worried about it up there on that chalk escarpment. You can see it for miles around, it's fantastic.

As for my Dad and his Owl, he'd be really dissappointed how little the ones that hoot and screech so loudly at night round his way are compared to ones in his imagination. There must be 4 or 5 species up there but none of them nearly as big as that last cat he had. Saying that, the enormous European Eagle Owl is being increasingly seen in the UK and that's a threat to cats and good-sized dogs.

I haven't heard anything, so I think it's safe to assume that the Cathedral is indeed still standing.

Can't say that I have any plans to visit Lincoln within the near future. Not because of earthquake risks or anything like that, but because the slope leading up to the main shopping area is a real drag to climb.
