DVD extras you wanna see

I'm not implying I'm dissatisfied with the extras we ended up with on S1 (heck, I haven't even ordered my copy yet...), but as the title says, if you could pick any bonus material at all, whether stuff from the show's production or specially-produced stuff, to include in a Foster's season DVD box set, what would it be?

Something I'd be interested in seeing myself would a step-by-step breakdown of the stages an episode's visuals go through before completion: for instance, the same two or three minute clip shown back-to-back in different "media:" storyboard, layout, animatic, all that jazz. A partially-finished version of a whole episode would be particularly fascinating to watch: Foster's has such a unique visual style that it'd really be a travesty not to give the public an insight into how that style comes to be.

The voice acting on Foster's is also one of its many strengths, so a bunch of fiveokay, I'll get realistic; two minute clips of each voice actor talking about their characters and their arcs would rock as well. Foster's is overflowing with overemotional characters *coughcough,* actors talking to themselves and some downright bizarre speech patterns (after the Cheese/Coco exchange in Mac Daddy, I love Candi Milo more than ever)... so basically toss anything related to Foster's and voice acting and I'll probably lap it up

Okay, okay: we've all seen Craig's concept sketches of the characters, but some stuff relating to the developmental stages of the show itself would be a real treat. How the line-up of major characters changed over time; how the "rules" of the world of Foster's were thought up; stuff like that.

Multi-language clip reel - 'nuff said. Those who own the Simpsons Seasons 2 and 3 or The Lion King on DVD will probably know what I mean (as will, to a lesser extent, those who've visited the Wilt thread lately).

I'm certain my ideas will pale in comparison to yours in terms of weirdness, insightfulness and just plain super awesomeness, mind.

Well, I myself am a commentary man. I just lap the stuff up. I would like commentaries from the writers and the actors, that would be awesome. Course, I think they already do that, so I just need to buy the season 1 DVD, don't I?

I don't remember what was said by Craig, but we may not get any more commentaries after Season 2, because Cartoon Network believes that kids don't care for them. I might have misunderstood him, but I believe that's what was said. To me, that's a bit of a letdown. I'd still buy the DVDs, even without them, though. I do want to see more behind-the-scenes featurettes, but with the voice-over actors.

I am also a commentary fan, and I will be dissapointed if the dvds lack said feature. I mean, you would figure by now that most cartoon creators would realize kids are not the only audience they reach. Though all the good folks are still kids at heart.

That'd be good. Toying with that idea, here's something fun that I would like: character commentary. Basically, it's audio commentary but instead of Craig or the writers, etc., it's the characters talking. (Think actor commentary on live action films.) It'd be fun to hear what the chacters thought of their own performances, hear their stories and whatnot. (Mind you, there'd be some serious suspension of disbelief <learned that phrase from my AP Lit teacher while we're reading Frankenstein> in order for this to work-- we'd have to almost-blindly assume the characters were semi-aware of the fact that basically their lives are the focus of a TV show.)

Either way, I'd still like it. <We'd have to close-caption the translations of what Coco's saying though...>

I too would love more commentaries. Unfortunately, looks like I won't get my wish, though, being commentaries aren't big with Foster's younger audiences. But I'd love one with Craig and Lauren, and the voice actors. They can share little things that happened while they were writing the episode or while they were recording the voices, such as bloopers and funny stories. I love commentaries with the people you actually see (or hear), because I feel more of a connection to them. The commentaries on some of my DVDs with people you don't know other than seeing their name in the credits don't spark my interest too much, but the commentaries with the actual actors/actresses I can watch over and over. I just love them! I really wish there'd be more of them in upcoming season releases. *crosses fingers*

I would like to see some of the Foster's bumpers among future extras, in addition to the typical commentaries. I do believe Craig, Lauren and co. recognize our interest in the behind the scenes stuff. Speaking of which, I'd like a behind the scenes on the animation/production process behind an episode, or at least significant parts of it.

Apparently it's because of the higher-ups at Cartoon Network that we're not seeing stuff like this.

Yeah, those would be awesome, too. I liked the bumpers this summer with the Foster's gang at the beach, with Bloo building a sandcastle and then a wave comes and washes it away (poor Bloo, lol!), and the whole gang bobbing in the waves. It would also be cute with other appearances of the Foster's gang, like the two or three "Rescuing Recess" ads (one is showing on other channels right now), the UNICEF ad, even the BFAHP ads. Because, tell me I'm not alone in enjoying seeing them in anything, even ads.

I'd also like to see more "behind the scenes" stuff, more so than what was on the S1 DVD. I enjoy learning new things, especially if it's about something I love, like Foster's, or even animation in general.

There were bumpers of those?! Aww, man! I never got a chance to even see them!
