Spaghetti Westerns, like R rated good versions of John Wayne (Rooster Cogburn aside)

Just watched The Iron Giant on DVD, and...wow. Seriously. Not only is it one of the most beautiful 2D animated films I've ever seen, it's also a sophisticated, emotional and absolutely superb piece of storytelling. Brad Bird is surely some kind of genius...I know we're all animation fans here, so I have no hesitation in recommending absolutely everybody to check this film out right now.

Superman: The Movie. Been meaning to watch this again since seeing Superman Returns (which I loved...so sue me ).
A bit slow, a bit cheesy in places, but overall it's held up really well. I preferred Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor to Gene Hackman's - Hackman's was played almost totally for laughs, with the wigs and moron sidekicks, whilst Spacey's had some real threat to him. But Christopher Reeve is awesome; as Superman, he makes being wholesome seem like the coolest thing in the world, but still convincingly makes Clark Kent an adorably clumsy nerd. Anywho, this is the last post I'll be making for a while. There's a six-week holiday for Spring Festival here in China, so Ditchy's tourin' China until March! Hopefully there'll be some new Foster's to discuss by the time I get back...bye, all!
