You know what really grinds my gears?
It's when people create characters, and put them in a fanfiction, just so that character the person made up can be the boyfriend/girlfriend of a character that already exists in the show. EXAMPLE: OC/Wilt. But what makes me scream like Tak (Irken from Invader ZIM) is also, instead of creating a character for above, INSERTS oneself into the story, for the SAME EXACT reason above. To be the boyfriend/girlfriend of an existing character on a show. Those things make me blow over. Last edited by antgirl1; 02-04-2007 at 08:44 AM. |

I sadly have to admit that I am guilty of doing this. I wrote a fan fic called "Kei to my heart" years ago on the anime "Dirty Pair Flash", and in it, I created a sort of love interest/boyfriend character for the butch, but lovely red headed member of the duo, Kei. I always loved Kei and I always felt bad that like most short animes (OVAs), they never last long enough to resolve things or get the chance to give characters a more or less happy ending. So I have to admit I have done this before, mostly out of my own fan boyish love and charms to the character. I'm also creating a similar (though more serious) story like this for Sailor Moon, this one I feel deserves to be written because it's about the one sailor scout I have always loved and has always gotten short changed by the show: Sailor Jupiter.

Well, the Gary Stus don't annoy me, as they're not as overdone as Mary Sues, so you're good with me. ^_^m Yesh, I'm VERY particular about these kinds of things. I myself prefer to write original stuff.

Since were on the topic of things that tick people off in Fan fics, here's something that kind of bugs me alot:
People who give fan fics like 50 bazillion reviews and totally love it, when the author puts little REAL effort into creating original stories or titles and when authors try their hardest to make original titles, they get barely any reviews. People who write fics like "Martin discovers her secret" get hundreds of fans, where someone who actually tries to write stories about OTHER things then character love relationships, get barely a hand full. That really aggravates me.

I know. Gen fics pretty much get ignored and romance ones get a hojillion reviews.

But anyway, I pretty much agree with the fanfic thing.
