Sparky mentioned "Moishe" who is a Dreidle (this is a very Jewish Top) I also thought I had seen more Jewis IF in some episode, But I do not remember what episode. Kawanza is spelled Kwanzaa or Kwaanza (I am also a bad speller so I looked it up) It is an African-American celabration, created sometimes in the mid-60s. it is not an African holiday. nor does it have the same historic roots, traditions and consostancies as the two most well known holidays being Chaunnukah and christmas. Naturally there are also other holidays that people celebrate at chrismas time. for instance the Winter Solstice is reconized by Pagan based religions. and Festivus on Sinfield. I would think that BFAHP would have a Christmas theam. because that is the primary Holiday that is reconized here in the USA. Also there is no reason for this to be religious. Christmas has always been a iffy holiday with regards to religion. Santa, Frosty, Roudolf, snow flakes, Pine Trees and Jack frost in there modern context have nothing to do with religon; While there are all dominant symbols used on christmas. I have seen several Documentaries as well as read articles over the years on this matter. The religous significance to christains is the Birth of christ, However historians have shown that Christ was most likely born in the spring or early summer.(one evidence is the Sheep/Shepards in the Fields) The Christmas celibrations supposedly did not originate in christianity either. (one could do a serch on Yahoo for the origins of christmas and see what I mean.) but enough of that, The fact is that everyone likes to have fun. Gifts, Santa, SnowMen (and snowoman) decorations, ect... are FUN. Fosters unlike some other cartoons, so far has never taken a Religous stance. (as Far as I can Tell) they have stayed very religous nuetral, but they have been very american. for everyone that remembers Charlie Brown Christmas, THat had Christian Undertones. Linus always reminded us of what he called "The True Meaning of Christmas".(assuming I remember it correctly they were also doing a Nativity play) I do not remember lots of controversy when this aired. If there was people upset about it, It never stoped the networks from reairing it. Monty Likewise, I hope I did not offend anyone, like Sparky said Moderators please delete this if it is not appropiate. (although I explicitly tried not offend any particular groups.) please forgive my spelling I should type in a spellchecker. |
