The Most Awesome Amphibian EVER
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23225938/
Scientists found fossils of the "Devil Toad," which was the size of a bowling ball, had armor plating, and razor sharp teeth. They theorize that it ATE BABY DINOSAURS. I want one as a pet. Now.

Just get an African Bullfrog, sold in the US pet trade as a "Pixie Frog", though there's nothing "pixie-ish" about these monsters! They might not have armor plating, but their hide IS tough, and the razor sharp teeth? Got 'em, no problemo! They won't hesitate to use 'em, either. They might not eat baby dinosaurs, but that's only because those are hard to come by these days, but an adult specimen will make short work of a chicken, which is related to dinosaurs, or a baby Nile croc...or human fingers. If it can fit in their mouths(and that's a really big mouth), they'll eat it. pitbulllady |

The fact that it's scientific name is apparently Beelzebufo immediately makes it the most hardcore frog ever. Its time like these that actually make me wish we lived in those times to see these kinds of creatures, despite the fact that we'd probably be wiped out by the creatures of that time period pretty quickly.

Beelzebufo actually has a very close relative living today-practically one and the same except for size-the so-called "Pacman" Frog. These are also known as Horned Frogs, and are readily available through the pet trade, especially at exotic animal shows. You can even get them in selectively-bred "designer" colors, like albinos and leucistics. They are absolutely guaranteed to bite the snot out of you at every chance they get and hang on like bad credit. That's how they got the cutesy nickname, "Pacman" Frog; they will literally try to eat anything that moves that can possibly be made to fit into their huge mouths. The illustration in the article even LOOKS just like a Pacman Frog, just bigger, so in a way, you CAN have a Beelzebufo of your very own!
Now, I'd love to have a giant prehistoric tarantula the size of a Spaniel, but now, they're saying that Megarachne was really not a spider at all, but a land crab, similar to the Coconut Crab...good eating, maybe, with some drawn butter and garlic sauce, but I don't think I'd want to keep one. pitbulllady |

Just don't go showing it off, otherwise people will try to attack your crab's "weak point" for "massive damage".

The discovery, led by paleontologist David Krause at New York's Stony Brook University, was published Monday by the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Oh wow, Stony Brook is only about an hour away from where I live. Cool.

Now, when I read armor plating... I pictured a frog wearing armor and I LOLed. It was this really awesome visual in my head. I totally want an army of armored frogs to do my bidding.
