![]() That's one of the reasons I'm glad the pilot *wasn't* the first thing I saw of the series.

![]() So, I rewatched the pilot today, and something Madame Foster said struck me: "pure and simple" I beleive was part of her description of Bloo. I agree. He does bad stuff, but he kinda has a limited sense of right and wrong. He just does what he wants, which is what makes him so appealing, and probably why Mac made him in the first place. Just putting that out there. And I too, and glad I didn't first begin watching Fosters from the start. The pilot was kinda "meh" if you don't know what you're getting into, cause it has a lot to cover and is more dramatic than the episodes. And they were just developing their craft in season 1. I would still probably have liked it, but still, I'm glad I got to see Camp Keep A Good Mac Down. It hooked me.

![]() Pilot!Madame Foster, to Bloo: "You're so pure, so simple; and above all: a true friend."
This was my second time re-watching the pilot, after I'd finished watching nearly all the seasons and up to Cheese a Go-Go. I snorted. Really hard. XD "Pure and simple" are barely the words I'd pick to describe Bloo right now. I mean, look at all the times he got the gang into trouble for his own selfish reasons. Look at the number of times he's quarelled with Mac to the extent where their friendship nearly fell apart. (Though Bloo and Mac always make it back up to each other by the end of the episode, so it's cool. ![]() But he has been a true friend on several occasions, even if it was after much persuasion and whining and complaining. And his good deed(s) in Bloo's the Boss. He's crazy and annoying and immature, but it's what makes Bloo Bloo, and I love his character for that. XD

![]() I'm among those who didn't catch the show from the beginning, and in fact didn't catch the pilot (in the whole) until last years "Red, White, and Bloo" marathon. I got up at 6:30, on my day off, to be sure to catch it.
![]() After having seen it, I can understand the disappointment of those who had seen it first. Getting attached to the sweet and caring Bloo, who actually thanks the bratty little girl for saying he smells nice, and even apologises to Duchess for ruining her best chance at getting adopted. And then in the next episode he's suddenly self-centered, and it's like he's a totally different person...er... imaginary friend. And the attachment to the "pilot" Bloo was no longer valid, and a new attachment had to be established somehow to this new not-so-nice Bloo. I'm with Sparky, if I had seen the pilot before any of the other episodes, I doubt I'd be as big a fan as I am now. I think we're lucky we didn't see the pilot first thing. Am I right? ![]() The way it is having gotten attached to the "bad" Bloo first, I thought the pilot was your typical "first episode" where the crew is still trying to establish the characters personalities, as well as their voices, and still trying to figure out what works best. I found it interesting how so many things were different from how they are now. I like trying to catch the little quirks it takes to produce a successful show. It's fun. ![]()

Mac's World in Bloo
|
![]() It's already been discussed I think, but I always believed Bloo literally changed his personality because of the mental affect it had on him when he got separated from Mac. When he lived with him, I think he had to be more caring and sensitive to help support Mac when he was being bullied by Terrence. When he came to live at Foster's, he didn't have to do that 24/7 and so became more carefree, especially with being cared for by Frankie and Madame Foster. It's just my take on it. Also Bloo is incredibly naive and like a little sponge he is easily influenced and absorbs everthing around him. He has to learn lessons and it will take a long time for him to mature...a very long time.

![]() He also seems to be used to not facing, or at least being oblivious to, consequences for his actions.
ETA: By the way, does anyone have any idea of how Mac came up with the first name Blooregard, given that he created him when he was 3 years old? Last edited by cartman414; 08-16-2007 at 03:03 PM. |

![]() Speaking of that I'm a little unclear on if IFs come with their own names or if the kids name them. When Mac thought he had created Cheese, he said that Cheese "came with the name", after all.

![]() Good question. I think it's both. Terrence gave Red his name, and I'm guessing that Mac named Bloo, but others friends may come with a name or possibly even name themselves.

![]() Ok, this is a little freaky because I was about to ask the same question. I think Bloo came up with "Blooregard" to make himself sound more important, like a kid would do. I don't know about the Q. Kazoo part.
