I could never get into the whole Brolly thing. He's insanely popular but I don't see him as anything more than a big, strong bad-guy. Maybe I missed something, but other than hating Goku, I can't really see anything more to him.

The thing with Brolly is that he is THE legendary Super Saiyan, he is where all the legends come from and whats neat about him is that he's unique amongst every other Saiyan we have ever seen. For the one thing, he's psychotic, he's the first and ONLY insane Saiyan we have ever come across.

He's also a sadomasochist, he thrives on pain and being hulked out as he is makes it harder to beat him. The thing with his hating Goku is more genuine then anyone, even Vegeta. Brolly was an infant next to Goku and all of his crying and whining not only made Brolly insane, but it made him go Super Saiyan.

The fact Brolly could remember something from the age of an infant for so long that it damaged his brain and made him go so ballistic well into his adult years is amazing. Brolly is also the only DBZ character (outside of the main cast) to appear 3 times. Cooler only appeared twice.
