Default Favorite Horror Movie (s)

Event Horizon-One of three original movies created by Paul W.S. Anderson, this was perhaps very original, in terms of genre, plus, it was also really disturbing as well.

Saw series-My interest in the horror genre was rekindled when I watch all three movies (with the fourth film coming out this Halloween). A diffferent approach to the genre, making it more of a thriller, but remains a horror movie, no less.

Aliens-technically not horror, but I did enjoy certain scenes from the movies, especially the battle between the Queen Alien and Ellen Ripley.

Predator-I find the first film to be enjoyable, and at the time, the Predator was considered an original character. Great action sequences too.

Although I'm not much of a horror fan (I really hate the popcorn scare ones), I do have two favourite horror films:

Constantine - This, in my opinion, is definately one of Keanu Reeves' best performances. He really played it well.

A Nightmare on Elm Street - a true classic and a great debut from Captain Jack Sparrow himself (Johnny Depp).

The Child's Play Series - When I was a child, I was terrified of the killer doll in these movies, Chucky. As I got older, however, I became a fervent fan of the series and the character; the movies, especially the later installments, tend to be good, hoaky fun. I adore them.

Pitch Black - Technically sci-fi, it could also be considered a however movie. The pacing and writing is wonderful, and the acting is terrific (personally, I feel it to have been one of Vin Diesel's single best performances).

I forgot to add this one:

The Hills Have Eyes (2006 film)-Sure, the remake was a lot different from the original, but it didn't go pale with the storyline and the characters.

i do have to give props to 'event horizon'. that movie is great. i am also a huge freddy krueger fan, as well as pinhead. but my favorite so far is 'high tension'. if you can get through the first 25 mins it is AWESOME!!!!

I'm not really a fan of horror movies but I do love Godzilla King of the Monsters. Not a horror movie in the truest sense, but it is scary, the original King Kong, too. I liked Signs. Again, more of a psychological scare but that scene of the home movie always thrills me. I really want to see Nosferatu, if only because it's a classic. And I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Castlevania film.

You can read about it here.

It sounds like it will be quite creepy since they want it to be that the environment (Dracula's castle) itself will be out to get the hero. As a fan of the games I'm really hoping they do justice to the series.

Much love for Sam Raimi's Evil Dead flicks, my faves being ED II and Army of Darkness. The original Scream and Shaun of the Dead are a lot of fun, too.
