R.I.P.: Alex Anderson
Alex Anderson was the nephew of Paul Terry (Terrytoons studio) who in 1948 created with Jay Ward TV's first cartoon show made specifically for the medium: Crusader Rabbit. Anderson died Friday at age 90 after a lengthy illness.
In 1955, Anderson created two proposed pilots for Jay Ward's up-and-coming studio, Dudley Do-Right and The Frostbite Falls Review. The latter feature would eventually become Rocky & His Friends in 1959 and Dudley Do-Right would become a component of it in 1961. Jay Ward was widely credited with creating Rocky; in 1996 Anderson won a lawsuit against Jay Ward Productions, citing Anderson as Rocky and Bullwinkle's official creator.
