Default RIP: Billie Mae Richards (Voice of Rudolph and Others)

Sad way to start off the holiday season, with the passing of the voice actress who voiced the most "Famous Red Nosed Reindeer Reindeer of them all." (And a Care Bear)

http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/391911...entertainment/

In addition to that she also did voices on other Ranken Bass produced works including their short lived King Kong animated series from the late 1960's.

Here's a clip of her work on that show:

(Aside: I'll never get tired of that clip, those who ventured with me to comic con in past years will know what I am talking about. )

Heard this on the news a number of days ago. They said that she requested her name be spelled with a "y" rather than an "ie" in the Rudolph credits to hide the fact that she was a woman. I found that interesting.

RIP Mrs. Richards.

I remember seeing that King Kong episode in '05--and I'm old enough to have seen the show itself when it aired (ABC, 1966). I never did tie in Richards as being the voice of Bobby as well as Rudolph. Richards gave Rudolph that innocence that made him so appealing.
