I agree with Kzinistzerg, that these forums are going to be absolutely buzzing directly after GWH airs.

I can hardly wait, though, to find out just WHO the Basketball-Headed Dude really is, and just what his relationship to Wilt, and to Wilt's seemingly sordid past, is. Here are some of my theories as to the possibilities; time will tell which, if any, are close to hitting the mark: 1. The Dr. Faustus/ "Devil and Daniel Webster"/Robert Johnson scenario-Wilt once made a deal with the Devil to be the best basketball player there is-his immortal soul in exchange for the talent. His injuries were the result of a failed attempt by Lucifer to collect on the deal. That Basketball-Headed Dude is one of the Devil's own minions, a demon if you will, created for the sole purpose of playing the best, one-on-one. Wilt must beat him at his own game to win back his soul, or perhaps that of his creator. 2. The Darth Vader/Luke Skywalker scenario-Wilt and the Basketball-Headed Dude are biologically related, just as humans can be biologically related. We have seen that SOME Imaginary Friends CAN, apparently, reproduce the "old-fashioned way". Either the Basketball-Headed Dude is Wilt's biological father, or his SON, begotten either by a female Imaginary Friend, or more likely, a female HUMAN, and some deep animosity has arisen between them. This would make one of them a "F-2" Imaginary Friend, created not by the mind of a human child, but conceived and born just as we are. That scene in that Star Wars movie in which Darth Vader cuts off Luke Skywalker's arm with the light saber comes eerily to mind. 3. The Brother scenario-same situation as above, except that the Basketball-Headed Dude is either Wilt's biological brother, born to the same parents, or a "brother" Imaginary Friend, created by the same child. Sibling rivalry, anyone? 4. The Gangsta's Paradise scenario-Wilt is a former gangbanger, having gotten involved with it either because his creator was, or he got caught up in it while trying to survive on his own. The Basketball-Headed Dude is a member of a rival gang(have to watch the video of the trailer again, but was he wearing BLUE?), or a member of the same gang that Wilt tried to leave, or snitched on. He was the one who is responsible for Wilt being injured, in any case, and has thought all this time that Wilt was dead. Wilt, meanwhile, survived his injuries(duh), but has become involved with the Federal Witness Protection Act, giving him a new identity(what if his name wasn't always "Wilt"?)and a new life at Foster's, provided he keeps quiet about his violent past. They might have even employed some brainwashing techniques(a'la that Richard Nixon lookalike guy in "The Incredibles")to erase Wilt's memory of his past, but the picnic at Foster's triggered their return, and a desire for revenge! 5. The Ford Prefect scenario-Wilt is NOT an Imaginary Friend at all, but an alien being from another planet, as is the Basketball-Headed Dude, only they are from RIVAL planets, both at war with each other. Wilt has been ordered by the MIB(Men In Black)to keep quiet about his identity, and has been masquerading as an Imaginary Friend all this time. 6. The Monsters, Inc. scenario-same as above, only instead of an alien from another planet, Wilt is a refugee from the Monster World, banished either legally or illegally to the Human World, where, instead of going insane(though the jury is still out on THAT)and slowly dying in some remote corner of the world, Wilt has managed to assimilate himself into the Imaginary Friend population, and no one is the wiser. The Basketball-Headed Dude is a former rival of some capacity from the Monster World, both winding up here, or the other guy is able to move back and forth between the two worlds, like the Scarers-turned-Comedians at the former Scream factory. Don't ask me how Wilt would know when the other guy is in the Human World, or how to find him. 7. Almost forgot this one-The Syndrome syndrome scenario-The Basketball-Headed Dude is a former idol/role model of Wilt's, from his younger days, someone he sought to emulate and join forces with, to become part of the greatest basketball team ever. However, after years of pestering his idol for autographs, etc., Wilt finally went too far at an important game, causing his idol to miss a free throw that would have clinched the game for his team. Angered at his young fan's insistence, the older basketball star chewed him out in public, admonishing him that "I play ALONE", and calling the police to take Wilt home to his creator. Shamed and humiliated beyond belief, Wilt vows someday to be a better basketball player than his former idol ever was, and to get revenge on his former for his humiliation, which ultimately led to his injuries. Anyone else got any theories? pitbulllady Last edited by pitbulllady; 11-08-2006 at 01:35 PM. Reason: Add to post |
