Default Sonic the Hedgehog General Discussion

I think the topic title pretty much describes the thread. Discuss about the games, the tv shows, etc. I just had to make this topic considering that I'm a hardcore fan of the series.

I've always been a fan. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was a favorite of mine growing up, even though I was among the many who were forever stuck at that Carnival Night Zone barrel puzzle.

I thought the Adventure games were great as well, I have some great memories with them.

Yeah. I remember the barrel. I happened to stumble across this picture:

Sonic the hedgehog to me is the greatest video icon character of all time, second (in my eyes) only to Mario. I always found Sonic to be a much more cooler, popular, and all around modern icon that could appeal to almost everyone.

I loved his video games and Sonic Adventure would have to be my favorite gane, Sonic 3 is my fav. from the older ones. Spinball was loads of fun minus the annoying difficulty. But I mostly fell in love with the Sonic cartoon shows, starting with "Adventures of Sonic the hedgehog" and evolving into SATam.

Which those of you unfamilar, that is the ABC saturday morning Sonic show which changed my life forever. Featuring a dark bad ass new storyline, new characters like Bunnie Rabbot, Princess Sally, Snively, and Rotor into the mix. And now still running in the form of comic books published by Archie comics.

I've loved that comic series since I was little, and I STILL get them subscribed to my house to this day. My first Sonic comic was bought back in May 1993, and I've never stopped reading them ever since.

I love Sonic. I was never into his 3D games/Cartoons/Comics, but I love his 2D games (The Advance Series and Sonic Rush). Sonic himself makes up for the coolness Mario was lacking.

My favorite character will always be Tails. He just PWNS every other cartoon/video game fox (no offense to Star Fox fans...)

I like Sonic the Hedgehog. My favorite title is Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It was the only one I owend and I played it all the time. I also really enjoyed Sonic Adventure 2.

None taken, I am a huge Star Fox fan and despite the fact he hasn't reached anywhere near the public status of other guys like Donkey Kong and Samus, I still love his games. My brother painfully reminds me of Zelda's success over Fox's.

I know Zelda games do better, I just can't stand Link and that leads to a game confrontation between me and my brother. Sonic I still love over any other game character, Fox is second of course and third would probably be Conker from the magnificent "Conker's Bad Fur day".

But back to Sonic, the only thing that pissed me off about those games was the lack of a save feature. You'd spend hours going through levels in Sonic 2 or 3 and once the boss mode Robotnik uses comes out: back to the beginning for you!

Sonic CD would be my favorite of the series. Probably the best platformer I've ever played.
Smoothly animated, large sprites. Great music.

I like all of the other 2D games, with Triple Trouble being a particular favorite of mine (I'm a Nack the Weasel fan). It's a shame Sega never released a 2D original Sonic game for the Saturn. With that things sprite rendering, the game would have at least looked phenomenal.

On the 3D front, I never could get into the Sonic Adventure games (never really got into 3D platformers). I did enjoy Sonic R on the Saturn, though it is a bit short. Still, it's my favorite 3D Sonic game, unless you count the 3D bonus stage from Sonic CD, which is epic.

I enjoyed the cartoon alright, though it was never a must watch. I did subscribe to the comic book back in 1997-98. Good comic, but I had to spend my money on other things...

The only platform character I may like better than Sonic is Bonk, who never got the credit he deserved for being in an excellent series of platformers.

Too bad you didn't keep track of it longer, Nack has become a recocurring character in the comics. He's played villain to many different roles in the comic. Including ganging up with Snively and a bunch of other comic baddies.

Kidnapping Sally, and the weirdest thing of all, having a sister, Nic the Weasel. (nick nack paddy whack for those of you who missed the joke ).

I do remember Nack showing up a few times and always wishing they'd let him do more.

On another note, I must say that the DIC cartoon "Sonic Underground" is probably the only thing Sonic that I can't stand. Sorry, but I had to say it.
