I beat that game about two weeks ago. At first I only had two lives and got Game Over. After that I collected 35 lives by going into the same level over and over again (which requires a lot of patience). I lost all of those too and spent around three hours collecting 65 lives to finally beat him. Of course, I beat him without dying
once that time.
(And this post isn't off-topic because that's the last game I played.)
