When you think about it, in giving us the show he gave us
all something that's pretty special.

He drew something for each of our group that requested it. I only spoke with him briefly but he struck me as a really decent guy, someone who with a few strokes of a pencil creates a magic all his own and is happy to share that magic with the rest of us. In creating Foster's he created something wonderful for all of us, in all of the characters residing in that crazy house, but for me his most wonderful character is and will always be Frankie. Maybe I'll tell him why someday.
I've occasionally mentioned that no pic is safe from me and my trusty copy of Paint; stars know I've littered this site with enough images to prove it.

Naturally, having scanned Craig's sketch onto my hard drive, I started to wonder what I could do with it. Eventually I dreamed up a halfway decent idea and got to work. The image was cleaned up to remove anything that wasn't black or white; every shade of grey became either one or the other. After that, gaps in the image were closed, forming a solid, unbroken outline. A little smoothing and touch-up of the lines and curves followed, after which color was added; red for her hair, green for her jacket, etc. A quick hunt online located a suitable background image; too large, really, but a few quick clicks and it shrunk to exactly the size I needed, 1024x768 pixels. I made Craig's drawing of Frankie transparent, moved it around on the background until I had the positioning right, and at that point I was pretty much done. A little more touch-up work, and that was it. Click to save. The end result is my new desktop wallpaper:
Looks better at full size and without the watermark. I am
very happy with how this turned out; I hope you guys like it, too.
