Given that it was Remembrance Day when it was on, I almost started to cry during the screen when the soldiers charge across no-mans-land and are mowed down by machine-gun fire. And then when they finally made it into the enemy trenches people start fighting for their live with anything they can like shovels. Powerful stuff.

Yeah, exceedingly bleak. I remember watching that on Remembrance Day a few years ago, and it certainly hit home. Paul's friendship with Kat is the aspect that stood out most for me; I recall the final outcome being very heartbreaking.
The last film I saw was
Ghosts of Cite Soleil, a feature documentary about gang culture and political turmoil in Haiti. Far from the happiest film I've ever seen.
