I thought the heavy pop culture references worked really well in context. Of course Bloo's story is going to draw from whatever movies or TV he thinks are cool. Heaven forbid all episodes become this reference-conscious. There's too many "Family Guy" clones as it is.

This wasn't just a good episode, it was needed. Most recent episodes have made Bloo an irritant to somebody else's issues. This one put him and his way of thinking in the center. We get a clear image of what he thinks of everyone in the house, most of it fairly positive. Once it becomes clear that "The Creator of Everything Good in the Universe" is Mac, and that Bloo is spinning some event, it also becomes a game to see what Bloo is really trying to tell Mac: that he got in a lot of trouble and broke Mac's toy.

Note: There's nothing indicating Wilt, Eduardo, or Coco were grounded. Heck, Bloo and Mac appear in enough other rooms it's not clear Bloo was grounded.
