I could have gotten my mythology/religions mixed up but I think the cat scene yes warped was still based on some shred of truth, although that exact sceen is currently a blurr since its been over a year since I saw that flick last.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the Ancient Egyptian practice of regarding cats with the highest esteem, and I'll take my hat off to them for it...the distortion in question was how C&D attempted to rewrite this truly magnificent era in feline history to the kitties' great detriment and the canines' favour. I guess that in the grand scheme of things it isn't really too big a deal, given that this is a silly family comedy we're talking about, one which neither asks nor deserves to be taken seriously, but nonetheless I dare any cat fancier to watch that scene without feeling in the slightest bit irked. Sacrilege is what it is!
The last film I watched was
Fly Away Home (or as I call it, "the Goose Movie"). A very charming film about a girl who raises a flock of Canada geese and teaches them to migrate, which was loosely based on the real-life work of Bill Lishman. The source of antagonism is perhaps a bit too simplified for my liking, but otherwise I think it's a pretty powerful and beautifully-cinematographed little picture, topped off with some really haunting scenes and poignant music, particularly toward the beginning.
