Well, my friends, you have just started a thread on my old fandom. And I'm going to warn you, this will be a REALLY long post. Hey, be happy this isn't a post about Titanic, which would be three times as long.
(*steps up to a microphone*)
My name is Marty.
(*chorus of people answer back*) "Hi, Marty!"
I've been in the FOP fandom for three years.
(*chorus of people clap*)
Just kidding- I'm not that cheesy.
I loved FOP up until right after Channel Chasers- as some of you may know, Danny Phantom debuted shortly before that.
Now, I'm not one of those people who think that FOP going down the toilet was all DPs fault. Don't get me wrong, DP is a good show and all (I watch it occasionally, although I'm not as emotionally attached to it as I am FOP), but it is PART of the reason why FOP went downhill. I mean, I understand that Butch Hartman had other ideas than just FOP, but I think he should have found a way to give BOTH shows the attention they needed. Butch is screwed because he left FOP and DP is now going to be canceled. And I'm not going to say that it serves him right, although I've thought it once or twice.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. How, may you ask, did FOP go down the toilet after Channel Chasers? It was the writing, if you ask me. Cosmo became downright nasty (Take the episode Big Wanda- it was thought that Wanda died, and Cosmo wasn't upset at all- HELLO?? SHE'S HIS WIFE!!!), calling Wanda a nag and overall terrible marriage jokes.
And you know how Disney keeps making all of those direct-to-video sequels and NOBODY likes them? Yeah- except for Back to the Norm, they all stank. No one watched them, and they were all in seasons 5 and 6.
Not all of the episodes stank after Channel Chasers- any episode that had Norm in it rocked. And there were the episodes (like the earlier mentioned Big Wanda) that COULD have been good, but were ruined by bad jokes. Several episodes had nice plots, but were ruined by Timmy's selfishness, Cosmo's nastiness, and everyone not caring as much as they used to.
It was depressing, and that (and DP) is why the show ended.
And that's my two-sense.
-Marty
