Downtown parking from what I heard is nearly impossible (last year, we found something on Friday by showing up early, and spent nearly an hour finding a spot on Saturday because we waited until noon to leave the hotel). If you're going to do anything else that day in San Diego, the Con site recommends parking at
Mission Valley and taking the
trolley to the Convention Center.
Otherwise, the Amtrak route is fairly simple. Take the
Pacific Surfliner down to the Santa Fe depot (called "San Diego-Old Town" on the Amtrak schedule), and then board the
trolley to the Convention Center. There will apparently be an express trolley for this route, but the schedule isn't posted yet.
