It works the other way around, too; one can become very attracted to someone through their personality. Years ago there was a woman I'll call "Beth" that I was not attracted to at all. But we spent a lot of time together and discovered that we had a lot in common, and in a short period of time I was saying to myself, "You know, she's really not bad looking, not bad at all...", and it was love shortly thereafter. (I never acted on it, or told her how I was feeling, but that's another story.) Looks, like icing, can certainly draw one in, but if there aren't a couple layers of warm, rich cake under that icing, my interest will soon turn elsewhere.
