A celebrity is obtainable only to other celebrities (or someone from a high social status), like Kageri mentioned. As commoners, we pretty much have a shot in hell of forming any kind of relationship with a famous person for the same reasons (and plenty more) that you just mentioned. :3 I'm not saying it's
entirely impossible, but you certainly don't see it happening very often. At least not with the A-list Hollywood crowd. It's completely off-topic, but I just felt I needed to say it, too.
As for lusting after animated characters, I find my own infatuations odd not because they're "cartoons", but rather because hardly any of them are actually human. :p I see fangirls going nuts over pretty-faced anime males, like Sessoumaru from Inuyasha (just an example right off the top of my head). To
me, that is almost like an animated version of a celebrity heartthrob. People are more likely to understand, accept, and even concur with the idea of having that little fantasy with a handsome human/human look-alike character.
