Harold Pinter was one of the all-time greats. His loss certainly hit me with quite a thud, particularly since I'd devoted so much of the year goneby to extensively studying his works. It thus feels kind of surreal to me, on a personal level, that we should lose him this year of all years.
Eartha Kitt I was most familiar with (other than "Santa Baby") for her voice-work as the villainous Yzma in
The Emperor's New Groove. I remember one critic commenting that she made Cruella de Vil sound like Snow White. Indeed, she was brilliant at it. May they both rest in peace.
