Episode Disscussion: House of Bloo's (8/13/2004)

In honor of the two year anniversary of the show, let's discuss* the episode(s) that started it all, and introduced such words as Foster's, Mac, Bloo, Herriman, Coco, Wilt, Frankie, Duchess and Terrence into our everyday vocabulary.

Persoanlly I thought it was a fitting introduction to a great series as it was the right mix of humor, action and drama, allthough in my opinion they were able to top it several times over the course of four seasons, but without making major changes from all the elements of the show that were introduced in HOB.

(*Personal thoughts, things we may have missed etc...)

First and, for me at least, still the best. This one had everything and in just the right balance. I didn't see it until about a few days before the premire of "Mac Daddy" and by then had it built up in my head as a major media event when it finally reran one morning. Doing that leads to a letdown most of the time; this wasn't one of those times. It really blew me away. :)

Ah, the pilot, how I love it so. Bloo's voice has gotten higher since then. I believe I saw it when it first came out, although I could be completely wrong. Anyways, it totally encompasses everything that Foster's is. Perfect introduction.

Lots of things change from the pilot in every episode. All of the changes made, I'm happy with, though. Bloo was much more innocent and "pure" in House of Bloos, did you notice? He was still a bit of a truth-bender (liar), but he wasn't as devious, insensitive, and mischevious as he is presently.

"I am not a butler."

Yes, but also he didn't have any TIME to do anything. He pretty much spent the entiere time running form the big thingie which I forgot the name of or th girl or terrence. When he wasn't he was sad.

Yeah, his voice got higher. Also Mac's mouth dosn't move all over the place any more. And Mac really sounded like a little kid in the pilot. However, the pilot is really well done. They had the music pefect. A great start for a great series.

I noticed the voice changes too! I watched House of Bloo's after watching a lot of the later episodes, and when it came to the part where Coco was asking Bloo if he wanted juice and Bloo said, "Yes," I was like, "Whoa! What happened?" But the voices are still good. And House of Bloo's was good, too. A nice, touching story of a little boy who must give up his best friend and how they are reunited in the end.

Just re-watched the pilot. The music is really, really, really well done. Methinks I would pay for a conglomeration of the music used. I mean, and the music used later in the series, ebcause it's all really good.

I actually didn't see the FULL pilot until last week (*blushes*). I only saw bits and pieces before that.

I taped it... I put it on while babysitting, and my brother said "What's wrong with Mac's voice?"

I cracked up...

It was great. I DO wish I would have seen the whole thing before getting into the series, but hey, it was easy to figure out.

It was fitting- a great intro to the show and to the characters. I REALLY liked Frankie in it... you saw her being sweet, but you also saw the difference when she;s arguing with Mr. H.

As far as pilots go (and I've seen a ton- the WORST was Lizzie McGuire, and I loved that show for years) I give it five stars.

Now, my mom... She's another story. She's seen the pilot three times and still doesn't get it.

My, my the pilot, wondreful memories there. Well I enjoyed it very much. But what I really liked about it was the creativity of each diffrent character. Never before have I seen such colorful chracters. 8-) :) :D ;) :-[

Ah, House of Bloos. One of the best pieces of art I've ever seen:) It's 90 minutes (with commercials) of pure enjoyment. Everything's changed so much since the pilot, but it's a good change. It shows how the characters evolve over time, which you really don't see in many cartoon series.
