Weird Al: Straight Outta Lynwood
Weird Al's new cd, Straight Outta Lynwood, is coming out on the 26th! My dad's gonna buy it. I sure hope he shares, or at least makes me a copy! One of the songs that's going to be on the cd is on his myspace to listen to. Here's the link!

heck yes.
I'm going to be the first person in town here to get it. I'll be waiting outside the record store until it opens. Heard Al on the radio yesterday plugging the album, even played one of the songs ("White and nerdy"). It's going to be great. |
Great? It's gonna be totally awesome! I'm pretty much counting down the days! I already downloaded White and Nerdy-illegally!

YES!

It's going to be wicked spiffy, or steeped, or something. |
It's gonna be all those things. By the way, there is a song on his myspace that's not on any album he put out that you can download from there. It was originally supposed to go on this coming up one, but at the last minute they couldn't do it. Did you download it?

"You're Pitiful"?
I love that song... even though it's the only thing by Weird Al I've ever heard. Yeah, I know, I'm pitiful(pun intended). I need to check out more stuff by him, and I guess I should start with this new CD. ;) |

Apparently James Blunt (whose song was parodied in "You're Pitiful") thought that including it on Straight Outta Lynwood would be harmful to his career, or some other legal babble. That's what I heard anyway. If he didn't want it on Al's album, then why did he give Al permission to record it in the first place? what did he think Al was going to do with the song? And if he thinks it's bad for his career, or whatever, then why did he let the Kidz Bop singers record it? Strange cookie, this Blunt, and not strange in a good way. Less than 1 week until the Al-bum comes out! |
I'm totally gonna buy it, especially since it has instrumental mixes on a second disc.... um, or whatever. And "Don't Download This Song" is one of the best things ever (and, ironically, also up for download on his Myspace... Al makes Myspace a lot cooler just with his presence).
If you're just getting into Weird Al, you should totally listen to "Albuquerque". It's the nearly 12-minute-long story of a man who is tired of sauerkraut, travels to the "magical faraway place where the sun is always shining an the air smells like warm root beer... where the shriners and the lepers play their ukuleles all day long and anyone on the street will gladly shave your back for a nickel" of Albuquerque, gets his lucky lucky autographed glow-in-the-dark snorkel stolen by a one-nostrilled man, is attacked by flesh-eating weasels, and maims people. It's awesome. |
