Ed McMahon (1923-2009), RIP

TV Icon, Ed McMahon died at age 86 on Tuesday.

Here's one gentlemen I will never forget. He was definitely well known with The Tonight Show (during the Johnny Carson years), Star Search, TV Bloopers, and so on. I've read in recent years that he wasn't doing very well, especially with financial issues and with McMahon's health declining as well. Good night, Mr. McMahon, and thank you for entertaining people. RIP, Ed.

He was a class act from what I've heard. Of the many things he's done over his long TV career, the one I remember most was a clip from the Tonight Show where he showed up drunk. Embarrassing, no doubt, but certainly memorable, and pretty funny, too. I'll miss him. :bloosad:

I actually heard about this on Entertainment Tonight tonight. Why didn't I hear of it on the news?? :( It's indeed sad, I'll remember him best as the TV Bloopers host and the spokesman for the sweepstakes. And who can forget "Heeeeeeeere's Johnny!"

RIP Mr. McMahon, you're a legacy. :'(

Ed's ties with Dick Clark intangibly go back to 1963. That year, Ed was the host of an NBC game show called Missing Links. Six months later the show moved to ABC. As Ed was contractually bound to NBC, Clark (who then hosted ABC's American Bandstand weekdays) replaced him as host.

This is really sad, and I was shocked to hear it. :( R.I.P., Mr. McMahon.
