Who watches the Watchmen?

As you may or may not know, Zack Snyder (director of 300 and 2004's Dawn of the Dead) is helming the adaptation of what the trailer calls 'the most celebrated graphic novel of all time'. I haven't read the novel, nor have I ever heard of it. But I think if Zack pulls this off, we may have a winner on our hands. Here's the trailer for those who haven't seen it: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=R3orQKBxiEg

I'm sure those are both fine movies but this to me is BAAAAD NEWS! Watchmen is a masterpeice of detail and sub-plots, neither of which I'm at all confident will survive the format transfer. Still it can't be as embarrassingly bad as 'From Hell'.

To be honest, I'm not so sure whether or not this movie could remain faithful to the graphic novel.

But, I won't make any criticism for the moment, until I see the film itself.

I'll admit the prospect scares the crap out of me, but I'm definantely going to go and see it when it comes out, if just so I know what I'm talking about. That being said, I've avoided the trailer so far, and I intend to keep doing so. I don't want anything to affect my possible expectations for it when I walk through the door into the theater.

I saw the publicity shots today and it looked like they'd done a fantastic job bringing it all to life (gulp). Looks like they're even keeping Nixon. :slybendy:

Maybe I'll see it. Maybe I won't. Won't die either way.
