Tiny Toons, Freakazoid coming to DVD

Season 1 of both Tiny Toon Adventures and Freakazoid! will be out later this year on DVD. TTA will be out July 29; Freakazoid! release date has not been announced.

Both shows signified firsts for Warner Bros. Tiny Toon Adventures was the first television venture for Warner Bros. Animation. It had a sneak preview of the pilot, "The Looney Beginning" on CBS prime time the week before starting in syndication in 1990. Freakazoid! was one of the charter shows for Kids WB! in 1995.

Tiny Toons will retail for $27.95 while Freakazoid! will go for $26.99.

Finally I've been waiting for Freakazoid to come out on DVD ever since WB started putting it's animated shows out on the format.

So huhzah and with any luck there will some kind of panel at this years Comic Con, I can start making plans to attend.

Freakazoid! was one heck of a good cartoon show...it's been long overdue for a DVD release, in my opinion. I always loved those segments with Lord Bravery. And the Huntsman (not the NF member; the Charlton Heston lookalike whose theme song was always a heck of a lot more action-packed and dramatic than the segments themselves :D ). I mostly only remember watching Season One, when it first aired, so I was kinda annoyed to later learn that they went and scrapped those characters in Season Two.

Great news there for both series. I'm surprised that Tiny Toons didn't come out with a release sooner, but better late than never, I say. Great news to finally learn about Freakazoid's release, as well.

Freakazoid! YES!!!

Freakazoid: I don't want to go down into the sewer. It smells like poo gas.

Kids WB's very first line-up back in 1995 was as follows:

Weekends
8 AM - Animaniacs
8:30 - Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries
9 AM - Animaniacs
9:30 - Pinky & The Brain
10 AM - Freakazoid!
10:30 - Earthworm Jim

Weekdays
7:30 AM - That's Warner Bros.!
8 AM - Animaniacs

At this point, Tiny Toon Adventures had just wrapped up a three-year run on Fox before going back into syndication.

That was one of my favorite episodes ever.

Freakazoid: Well if it isn't...

Steff, Dr. Gunther Hunterhanker, Additional Voices: *No!*

Freakazoid: What? I was just gonna say...

Steff, Dr. Gunther Hunterhanker, Additional Voices: *No!*

Dr. Gunther Hunterhanker: Don't say it!

Freakazoid: Don't say what?

Steff: Don't say his name!

Freakazoid: You mean don't say 'Candle Jack'?

[screen wipes]

Steff: Freakazoid, why did you say his name?

Freakazoid: 'Cause I-I wanted to do one of those funny things like, you remember in F-Troop where Agarn says "There's no way I'm wearin' a dress, absolutely not! No dress!" and Forrest Tucker's like "Yeah your wearin' that dress! Your gonna wear that dress!" and then they wipe

[makes a scene wiping noise]

Freakazoid: and Agarn's wearin a dress.

[shows Agarn wearing the dress]

Candle Jack: Oh, I love that bit. There, I'll be right back, I've got to go charter a bus. Believe it or not.
