Submissions for Best Animated Feature Oscar

12 theatrical animated feature films will be submitted to the Motion Picture Academy for 2008 Oscar consideration. Only up to three films will get nominated. The submissions:

Alvin & The Chipmunks (due out Dec. 14)
Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters
Bee Movie
Beowulf
Meet The Robinsons
Persepolis
Ratatouille
Shrek The Third
The Simpsons Movie
Surf's Up
Tekkonkinkreet
TMNT

The three I think will get noms:
Ratatouille
The Simpsons Movie
Surf's Up

Who will win:
Ratatouille

But don't hold me to it. I'm the same yutz who said Philadelphia and the Yankees would be in the World Series.

Well, I'm pretty sure The Simpsons will at least get nominated. That movie was the definition of funny.

It would be great to see The Simpsons Movie get nominated. I can definately see Ratatouille getting nominated (and possibly win).

I'm rooting for the Aqua Teens. Not much chance of success, but they're definitely my favorites. :D

It'll be interesting to see which film comes on top. Ratatouille may be a favorite, but favorites don't always come out on top, and as you saw last year, Pixar doesn't always win. This should be very competitive this time around.

It would be a lot more competitive if they had MORE THEN 3 SLOTS! I mean come on, how stupid is that? Every other category for movies, TV shows, and best script and all those other ones get at least 5 slots for possible winners.

There is a lot of good animated talent in those 12 and to only put up just 3 is freaking idiotic as hell. That's the only award I even care about anymore. The rest are given to the same 5 films NO ONE sees except for one and that's it.

I normally pride myself on rooting for the underdog - not on this occasion, however. Ratatouille all the way! :D

I'm pretty confident that Remy and his pals will make it through to the next round, and fingers crossed will take home the gold from there. It's true that last year's selection for Best Animated Feature was a bit of a surprise, but then again the Pixar offering was Cars, which had attracted a much more lukewarm reception than their boys are normally used to.

The other nominees I either haven't seen or didn't take particularly strongly to. I've already penned an extremely long-winded review of The Simpsons Movie in the relevent thread, so I'll keep this brief - it was a more agreeable time-passer than I'd been expecting, but still struck me as something of a potboiler. I personally don't deem it as Oscar-worthy, but that's just my opinion, and if popular outlook is anything to go by it'll no doubt be at least nominated. I think I speak for a lot of people, however, when I say that Shrek the Third has no business whatsoever even being invited to the Oscars. :P

I'm definately routing for The Simpsons Movie, there's no doubt in my mind. Ratatouille was also pretty good, but I just thought that The Simpsons Movie was better. *shrug*

I also agree with Mr. Marshmallow about how idiotic it is that there are 12 movies, which get eliminated to 3, elminated down to 1. I gues the movies that don't get to the top 3 will have this note under the awads section on their Wikipedia article....

"Nominated for a nomination for an Oscar Award" 8D

Agreed 100%. Personally, I'm very tired of Shrek and all things related to it.
