Favorite Music Composers

John Williams-Known for composing scores for the Star Wars films, John knows how to make one scene sad and another scene with energy. Overall, he puts much passion when he composes those scores.

Danny Elfman-Most of his own scores are energetic and filled with excitement, and one that has a rather unique tone in them.

John Carpenter-Although a movie director, he does a good job on composing his own music scores on his own films. In some ways, its actually good to see someone doing their own music score for their own films.

I was hoping someone would put this up!

John Debney - What can I say? He's a great composer. Just listen to 'The Big Fat Kill' from the Sin City soundtrack. Absolutely amazing. I also love his take on the Inspector Gadget Theme (even if it was a bad film!)

Danny Elfman - Another talanted composer. The way he does it with energy and fun (like MIIB and Spider-Man) is just great. I especially love his main title theme music for Spider-Man 2. Now, THAT'S how you do super-hero music!

John Williams - The best of the best. He has done some really wonderful music, and it shows. Harry Potter (the first three films), Jaws, Indiana Jones, The Terminal... I have to mention The Terminal! It's probably the best work he's ever done!

Personally I like Wagner, and Bach

My alltime favorite song is "Peter and the Wolf" I always forget the composers name but I think it is german or russian??(maybe?)

However my favorite music is 60's rock in particular my 2 favorite bands are: Eric Burton and the Animals, and Pink Floyd.

I can't help but stick with the classics- Beethoven, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Handel, Chopin... anything classical really. And old. I love very, very old. :nyah:

Peter and the Wolf is by Sergei Prokofiev. One of my favorite Slavic composers.

Ditto. There's no composer in this world I love to listen to then Elfman, Tim Burton's movies features some of his greatest and most beautiful work. I'm so glad my favorite director and composer have a habit of working together so much.

I especially loved his work in "Batman Returns", "Sleepy Hollow", "Edward Scissorhands" and "Charlie and the chocolate factory".

I love just about anything by Johann Sebastian Bach, particularly when rendered by Glenn Gould's highly adept fingers.

As for movie score composers, I note that no one has mentioned Carter Burwell, a man who's put together some fantastic arrangements for the Coen Brothers. His predominent theme for "The Hudsucker Proxy" was so lovely that Sainsbury's supermarket chain were later compelled to use it as the accompaniment to one of their TV campaigns - a shame that most of the people who heard it probably weren't familiar with the film in which it originated. C'est la vie.

His non-Coen scores have included "Adaptation", and a lot of other stuff which will probably come back to me later.

Oh, I almost forgot...

Danny Elfman's brilliant theme score for Beetlejuice. I love it! I've yet to see the movie, but the theme itself is just brilliant.

My favorites have always been Nobuo Uematsu (of Final Fantasy fame) and John Williams (Star Wars, Indiana Johns, ect). I'd die to see those two collaborate on a musical project. :D
