"Alex" the African Gray Parrot Dies
I found this kinda sad, especially after reading the last paragraph. Alex was truely a unique bird, who taught us a lot about the intellect of parrots and the language learning processes of our own species. As a parrot owner myself, I can really appreciate the cleverness of these birds.

It's always sad to learn that an animals passed away. I like parrots and cockatoos so I feel for the poor thing.

I saw this in the newspaper today. How sad. He was quite a bird, very smart and facinating too.

I hadn't heard that. That's very sad. I first learned about Alex when I was about 10. I had gotten my first bird, a parakeet, and my parents let me subscribe to then-new Bird Talk Magazine. I always liked to read about him and Dr Pepperburg.

I can't believe that happened. He was one unique bird. :(

Hey, I actually remember him
Oh well... not much to do about it ;/ |
Yeah, I had heard about Alex the Parrot recently. It's a same that Alex's time was up. :(

It's always sad when the world loses a special bird. I'm currently still in mourning for Captain, a local shelduck I was on friendly terms with who also passed on quite recently. And of course for Josef Zawinul, co-founder of one of my favourite bands, Weather Report, who died on Tuesday. :'(
