My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Some of you may not know, but Lauren Faust is involved in the new MLP series that will debut this Sunday on The Hub network. The Hub will launch and replace Discovery Kids on the very same day. The series will debut at 2:30 PM EDT. A little heads up for those that are into MLP, or would like to have a look at it. :)

Sparky 10-06-2010 10:55 AM

Thanks, I was wondering when it was going to air.

One Radical Dude 10-17-2010 03:29 PM

I saw the episode last week, and I must say that I can't help but stick around and watch the second part of the episode. Not only Lauren is involved in the series, but I believe Rob Renzetti (who worked with Craig and Lauren in the past with Cartoon Network) is involved, also. I actually did see some of the 1980s series, which was okay, but I believe Friendship is Magic will be even better. Great cast, beautiful artwork/designs, and definitely an enjoyable first part episode. I'm really happy for Lauren, and I wish this series well.

For those without The Hub, you can find the first part episode on YouTube. The next episode will premier on Friday at 2PM EDT.

Lynnie 10-18-2010 06:06 AM

I'm upset I don't have The Hub. :bloosad: But I have The Hub "On Demand", and even though MLP isn't listed there yet, it's only a matter of time before it is. I did see the first half of the first episode online though, and I loved it. It has much more depth and meaning than the '80s series did. This will delight people of all ages, male and female. I just hope more males give it a chance. ;)

Fluttershy is my favorite character so far. An animal lover, and painfully shy just like I was when I was a "tween". Pinky Pie made me laugh. It's very entertaining. :)

Howard 10-18-2010 10:05 AM

I just saw the first part of MLPFiM on YouTube (I cannot get Hub either). I think this show is in VERY good hands. Lauren has created a good little show here so far, and I like what I see.

Lynnie 11-02-2010 04:32 PM

Few people have The Hub it seems, which is sad. It's not even available on many cable and satellite providers. So I thought I'd take this time to post links to Lauren's new pride and joy so those without The Hub can enjoy them too. And maybe pass on the word. :lauren:

The series premier was titled "Friendship is Magic" and aired in two parts, but was produced like a movie (like "House of Bloo's" was). And since YouTube allows for only so many minutes per video, it's snipped up into four videos-

Ep 1, part 1

Ep 1, part 2

Ep 1, part 3

Ep 1, part 4

The second episode is titled "The Ticket Master" and is now your standard 22 minute episode-

Ep 2, part 1

Ep 2, part 2

Pinkie Pie still makes me laugh, she's sooo funny! My favorite is still Fluttershy. But all the characters are great! :)

Cassini90125 11-02-2010 04:51 PM

Many thanks for this; I haven't seen it yet.

Lynnie 11-07-2010 06:50 PM

My pleasure! And what did you think of it?

Ep 3 has aired and is now up on YouTube. It's called "Applebuck Season".

Ep 3, part 1

Ep 3, part 2

Lynnie 11-20-2010 10:03 PM

Episode 4 aired last week. It's titled "Griffon the Brush Off". It deals with bullying.

Ep 4, part 1
Ep 4, part 2

And Episode 5 aired this week. It's titled "Boast Busters", and deals with the difference between being proud of your talents and showing them off.

Ep 5, part 1
Ep 5, part 2

I really enjoy this show! Lauren has done very well with this thus far.:lauren:

Lynnie 11-23-2010 08:45 PM

Look what I just bought on eBay!

I can hardly wait for her to get here. She's my favorite character. :lauren: I'm finding myself wanting to make some avvies of her too, and the rest of the characters.

Lynnie 11-27-2010 04:22 PM

Episode 6 aired yesterday, this one is titled "Dragonshy", and features my favorite character, yay!

Ep 6, part 1

Ep 6, part 2

I don't really like how she's portrayed as such a scaredy cat in the beginning though, it seems a little over the top. Just because she's so shy and sensitive doesn't mean she has to be afraid of her own shadow (literally). But being my favorite character, I'm going to be most picky when it comes to her I guess.

Lynnie 12-05-2010 07:53 PM

Everyone, go to this site, vote for your three favorite cartoons of 2010, and watch the results after you do!

And episode 7 aired Friday. This one is titled "Look before you Sleep." Applejack and Rairity are as different as night and day, and don't always get along. But a storm forces them to stay the night with Twilight. It's not exactly your typical slumber party..

Ep 7, part 1
Ep 7, part 2

Twilight was making me laugh in this episode almost as much as Pinkie Pie does in others. 8D

Lynnie 12-11-2010 10:44 PM

Episode 8 aired last night. Wow, 8 episodes already? I think that's great! :) I'm still loving this series!

It's titled "Bridle Gossip". There's a mysterious pony in town, and no one's bothered to ever make friends with her because they're all afraid of her. Moral of the story is not to be prejudiced towards those different from you. You don't know what great a friend they really can be unless you make friends with them!

Ep 8, part 1
Ep 8, part 2

And while I'm at it, the little Fluttershy I ordered finally came, and I got her last Tuesday. So happy to be united after all we went through for her to get here!

Front of the box. It had been raining so you can still see a few raindrops on the packaging.

Back of the box.
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...n/DSCI0315.jpg
Out of her box. I tried styling her hair like it is in the show but it's too curly just out of the box. I'm hoping the curls will relax a little over time.
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...n/DSCI0318.jpg
And with Angel the bunny, in her wagon. :) The wagon attaches to Fluttershy's leg, which I find kind of odd for how a wagon hitches to a pony, but what should I expect from a pre-schooler's toy. ;) I love her, she's so cute! And I think she's less than half the size of the old MLPs of the '80s, so she's also so small and delicate.

Found this on another forum, thought it was kind of funny.

Keep in mind this was a forum of mostly well adjusted adult males, and they had nothing but praise for the program.

So I guess Lauren is succeeding in her mission statement about making MLP accessible for people outside the core demographics.

Might have to give this a look.

Sparky 02-14-2011 09:47 PM

I have male friends who love the show. The twitter hashtag they use for guy pony fans is #totalbrony

I love the show. Lauren is a great story teller. I find the show more creative and more funny too. You can recognize the writing style (little echos of it anyway) that was in PPG and FHfIF. Check this show out!

Sparky 02-15-2011 02:38 PM

I just saw a commercial for a talking Princess Celestia toy that says "My wings are so pretty!" I don't recall her being so egotistical in the show, lol.

"Bro-ny?" Ha ha ha, The Hub and Hasbro need to trademark that term A.S.A.P. 8D

taranchula 05-02-2011 04:09 PM

Well, I finally got to see a few episodes in full (Episodes 1,2,4,5 and 6 to be exact. Dunno why I skipped 3.) And I am in agreement with what most people have been saying about this show. It's pretty darn good.

Once again it's refreshing to see a show with the mindset that just because it has to have a positive message, doesn't mean it can't be entertaining at the same time.

:(

:edmad:

It looks like Faust won't have a big role in season two. Thoughts?

taranchula 06-03-2011 06:59 PM

Seeing as how she says they retained the same creative staff as they had in first season, there is really nothing to worry about quality wise for the shows second season.

Look at the writing staff for example almost all of them are former Foster's/ Powepuff Girl writers, we know they are capable of, we know they can pull together some creative ideas.

Where they go from season three onwards depends on whose staying, whose going and whose coming aboard. And what direction the show runners want to go in. Again I don't think it will be too much of a deviation from their current direction. Unless Hasbro changes up things to cater to the growing young male demographic that this show has garnered. But I don't think they'll ever go that far.

Lauren and Craig have bun in the oven that's due in November.

Sparky 06-05-2011 10:25 AM

I'm at a convention right now that had a "Brony Fanmeet" yesterday but I missed it because I'm not staying in the con hotel and I couldn't make it in time...I wanted to take pictures/video and send them to Lauren. Oh well.

Believe me, I'm pretty sure someone else must have most likely done that anyways.

The June 25th edition of NPR's quiz show Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me had former president Bill Clinton asked three questions about MLP:FIM in the show's "Not My Job" segment. Mr. Clinton correctly answered all three questions.

It's not surprising, Bill always did have a thing for the young fillies. ;)

Just a reminder that new episodes (In the US) start this Saturday at 9:00 AM EST on the Hub, with special guest voice Q from Star Trek: The Next Generation himself, "John de Lancie" (Really.)

Sparky 09-13-2011 01:41 PM

How many other people are having a pony party that day? Or is it just me? :3

On another forum I visit, all the fans are going to be Role Playing as the characters as they post about the episode.

Of course those participating are 99.9% male, but at this point is that really too surprising?

Okay there are a few male characters represented in the RP, but all of the popular main characters were taken long before they were chosen.

Huge interview with Lauren looking back on the first season of the series.

Very in depth and informative. (But come on, given the interviewee you know that it wouldn't be anything less. ;))

Sparky 09-15-2011 04:38 PM

I mean who else on here is having a pony party...I know people elsewhere will. :cheese:

:slybendy: I just made myself in the pony generator:

Lynnie 11-09-2011 06:27 PM

Yay! :D Is her name Blinky? Or did you name her yet?

I've made many custom ponies, usually by taking the online coloring pages, and copying/pasting different manes, tails, and eyes onto different bodies, and then coloring them how I like. And then drawing a cutie mark for them.

Here's my creation from this brilliant "game". I named her Cascade.

She's just me as a pony so just...Sparky. A friend of mine does pony badges for conventions so I really just made this in the generator so she'd know what to draw for me.

One Radical Dude 12-10-2011 02:05 PM

I took a stab at creating vector art.

http://oneradicaldude.deviantart.com...tyle-273235032

Spike hasn't performed a musical number in FIM (so far), so I thought "what if he did?" A few days ago, the idea of seeing him sing "I Love to Singa" hit my head. That was also the name of a Merrie Melodies short, featuring an owlet named Owl Jolson (Al Jolson). This was the first time I even attempted to draw/design a MLP: FIM character. I don't do much in the way of art, though I took courses in school. No tracing was done. I did look at some screen shots to get an idea of how Spike looked. I used Inkscape to create this vector image. It was not easy. A lot of corrections were made, especially to the hands, tail, and good grief, the eyes were a pain to do (that was the hardest part!).
