Favorite Book?
Well, we have threads for TV shows and music and school life, but none for books. So I decided to make one.
My favorite book is Prey by Michael Crichton. That has got to be the absolute, best, most thrilling thriller of a science-fiction novel ever! If you've never read it, I think you should, unless you are offended by harsh language. Anybody else have a favorite book? EDIT: Ooops! This was supposed to be under the Other Entertainment section... |
The mods will move it soon.
Anyway...I always liked Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. |
You think I'll get in trouble for posting it in the wrong spot?
|
Right now,my favorite book series is: Warriors by Erin Hunter. I like stories with cats in it.
|
My fave books are the redwall series
|
one with out words. (or at least alot of big pictures) and i really dont think this in the wrong section.
|
As of right now...
Animal Farm by George Orwell A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card American Gods by Neil Gaiman Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover(So wonderful that even the most anti-Star Wars person will enjoy it) |

Favorite book... Good grief, there's so many to choose from, in so many catagories! Some faves include: The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant The Lord of the Rings The Silmarillion The Wheel of Time The Fionavar Tapestry The Last Legends of Earth The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy ...and many more. If you want to add non-fiction books to the list, it gets a lot longer. :) |
How many favorite books can I list?
Jeez, let's see... SciFi: Dream Park (+ sequels) Starship Troopers To Sail Beyond The Sunset Man-Kzin Wars (+ sequels) Roar of Honor Ringworld (+ sequels) Red Mars (+sequels) Building Harlequin's Moon Dune (+ sequels and prequels) Fantasy: Tooth and Claw Eragon Sandry's Book (+ sequels) Alanna (+ sequels) The Sword of Shannara (+ Sequels) Burning City Through Wolf's Eyes (+ Sequels) Random: Hidden Talents |
Douglas Adams' "Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy" series, is my Alpha and Omega when it comes to my favorite book series.
|
My favorite right now is the first book in the Inkheart series with the title of the same name. The characters are totally awesome.
|
Oooo... Inkheart. I read that one too. I liked the seocnd book better, though...
|
Really? I haven't read that one yet, so I don't really know which one is better. I plan on buying the second one once it comes out in paperback. Hardbacks are a lot more expensive!
|
Darn, and I forgot the Warriors series, too. I read so many books, it's hard to keep track...
|
I'm just glad to hear that people still read. I don't get people who say they don't enjoy it. Besides, don't you kind of have to, to see what everyone else has posted?
|
Total Basketball (2003 edition)
The Official NBA Encyclopeadia (1989 edition) The Big Book of Real Race Cars and Real Race Car Driving |
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. I love the Vicotrian Era.
There are so many books I LOVE, but I really don't have the time to post them right now... |
I like pretty much anything, except I'm not into science fiction and SOME kinds of fantasy.
I LOVE the A Series of Unfortunate Events books- the last one comes out on the 13th!!! I also love "Silent to the Bone" by EL Konigsburg... I've been reading since I was four, and I LOVE to read... -Marty 8-) |
Right now my fave book is Disco Bloodbath by James ST. James, it is a good book. I also like the Harry Potter series. So far I am enjoying my copy of the Communist Manifesto by Marx.
|
my favorite author is christopher moore, my favorite book by him is 'the gospel according to biff, christ's childhood pal'
he is soooooooo funny...every bood he has ever written has made me laugh out loud!!!! let me know if any of you have heard of him.... |
Oh gosh, they're waaaayyy too many books I like. I can read just about anything, given that it isn't a cheesy romance novel.
Well, some of my favorites include Of Mice and Men, Napoleon's Buttons, Complications: A Surgeon's Notes on an Imperfect Science, and Black Beauty (it was the first book I actually felt emotionally touched by). I would count Gray's Anatomy too, but not many people consider an Anatomy book interesting (well, anyone who isn't a huge geek like me anyways). As for book series, I like A Series of Unfortunate Events, Artemis Fowl, and the Chicken Soup books to name a few. There are so many books I love, but if I actually took time to list them, I'd be, well, wasting time! =P |

Book 12 was my favorite one in the series, though I'm hoping book 13 will replace it. I reserved The End at my local Borders and will be getting 20% off of the original price (I'm a Borders Rewards member, so that's where the discount came from). If I didn't have exams the week after the release day, I would've planned to go to B&N for their release party. Argh, well, at least I'll have the book in my gritty hands.
Eeek, I'm really excited to read the end of the series! |
Who's your favorite Badalaire?
|
I love the Baudelaire orphans equally, though I'm slightly bias towards Violet. I just love how inventive and resourceful she is. She may not be an avid reader like Klaus, but she is a very intelligent girl.
Ehh, I think this thread is going a bit off topic with my ASOUE talk, so... I'll stop rambling about the series now. Oh, and for my favorite books, I want to add Matilda. I'm a sucker for Roald Dahl's works, and I really love the protagonist in that book. Who couldn't like an intelligent little girl like Matilda? Well, I can name a few people I know who disliked her (and the book in general), but that's not my point. |
amritama you and I can get along very easily in a Border's I'm guessing considering most of the books you listed I love
|
