The fact that Star Trek didn't get a nomination for Best Picture is irritating, although not unexpected. In that case, District 9 all the way.

Interesting that Sandra Bullock is up for both an Oscar and a Razzie. :bloocross:

She's definitely not the first one to achieve it! 8D

I'm only irritated that Robert Downey Jr and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs didn't get Oscar nominations (here's hoping for the best at the Annies). Especially Robert, since he won a Golden Globe for Sherlock Holmes. :frankiemad: But either way, I'm saying Sherlock Holmes for Best Original Score, even though there's a 1:100 chance that Avatar will get it...

...and every other category it's been nominated for. ::)

Oh, and Wallace & Gromit for the win!!

Pawbah 02-02-2010 04:30 PM

I used to intern for one of the producers of The Hurt Locker. Seeing how well that film is doing now, I guess I should've continued interning for him.... big mistake on my part. But at the time Hurt Locker was barely edited together and had problems with flow etc etc.

Sigh.... I really hope Avatar doesn't do well. I dislike that film with great intensity.

You and me both! Especially Best Original Score! Seeing as Sherlock Holmes didn't get the Best Actor nomination that I was hoping for, I'm really rooting for Hans Zimmer to win this time!

At least 2012 didn't get any nominations!

Pawbah 02-02-2010 11:01 PM

Never saw 2012, I heard it was bad.

I wish Sherlock Holmes had gotten a few more nominations, I really enjoyed that movie.

I agree, it would be it's fourth Oscar!

Up is great, but it would be a bit of a pity if Coraline would be ignored.

Medikor 02-04-2010 12:21 PM

You know the movie movie I've seen on that list was Transformers. Everything else just didn't interest me. I guess I'm just not that big of a movie viewer.8D

I'm sure I'd get bricked for saying this, but I think The Princess and The Frog would be more deserving of the Oscar, mainly because it would be great to see traditional animation triumph over its other forms of animation. It would show that old school never says die.

Pawbah 02-04-2010 11:06 PM

I'm all for traditional animation and everything, but I honestly don't think The Princess and the Frog was Disney's best work. Guess we'll just see how it goes.

Another Castle 02-05-2010 09:56 AM

Part of me prefers hand-drawn animation, and it is a pity it seems snubbed nowadays- with the exception of Pixar (and many occurrences with Dreamworks), CGI seems a little soulless.

I'm with you there! I'm dying for someone to make an animated movie that truly pays homage to the art of hand drawn animation. I don't mean this stuff were animators use computers to colour and perfect drawn animation either, I mean back to pencils, paints and animation cells. Animated pieces done like this had so much character to the point that you could almost tell who was animating what scene you are currently watching.

Loved Matthew Broderick's tribute to John Hughes: 'Hey, Ferris... You having your day off?' 8D

I'll live with it. Truthfully, I think the Academy hates science fiction. :P

Pawbah 03-07-2010 09:23 PM

Personally glad Avatar didn't win. Since Hurt Locker won I get to say I worked for a company that made an oscar winning film.

That's definately the bright side for me. At least Avatar didn't become the new 'Titanic'! 8D

taranchula 03-08-2010 04:44 AM

Finally, the Dude (Jeff Bridges) get's his due.

It also was great to see Micheal Giacchino get the win, IMO he is one of the best music men in Hollywood, I would certainly put him up there with the likes of John Williams, Bill Conti and James Horner. Up was one of his best scores to date, that song that played during the montage of Carl and Ellie's life together was one of the most touching things in the history of music.

Sparky 03-08-2010 09:48 AM

Logorama was...special. 8D

I searched for it after watching the Oscars, and after watching it, I have to say it was... special! 8D

That one actually surprised me. I was hoping for Sherlock Holmes to get the win (Discombobulate is one of my favourite scores), and I was really hoping that Avatar wouldn't win! But yeah, I agree that it was great to see Michael Giacchino take the Oscar this year.
