Terrence Doll

I thought I'd show you guys what I've been working on since finishing the screengrabs...

I've been telling myself I was going to make a Terrence doll for years now but never have gotten around to it. But now that I have the embroidery machine I thought I could use that for the face so I decided to give it a try. I'm still working on him but this is what I have so far:

http://www.fosters-home.com/terrence.../terrdoll1.jpg

This is actually my third complete doll. For the first one I used a non-stretchy fabric and it didn't come out well at all. Plus the color was way too pale (it looked right in the store though, stupid fluorescents). The second one was the right fabric but again, too pale. :P Then I deliberately bought fabric that looked too dark and it came out okay. The two first dolls were good practice, anyways. Ad now I have a couple goth Terrences. 8D

I got the soft doll pattern online but resized it so he'd fit 18" doll clothes. I made the red shirt but bought everything else - the shoes, while right for an 18" doll, look too small on him (his feet are really stuffed in there) so I may go with like, teddy bear shoes instead. I'm still waiting for the nice jeans I ordered for him to come, the ones in the pic above are okay but not as nice as these other ones.

Anyways I'm still working on him, I'll try to make his chin pointier and move the ear that's too low (I may just make the ears over), and I could shape his arms better. On the last one I had to put some armature from the head down to the waist to keep his head up and on this one I just stuffed him more; that may or may not work in the long run though, the fun fur I used for his hair is kind of weighty. We'll see. :D And yeah, I may do other character in the future. ;)

That is amazing. You've got to bring him to the Con. Excellent work! ;D

One Radical Dude 06-09-2009 09:37 PM

Wow! I'm very impressed with the creation of the Terrence doll. I must agree with Cass that you should consider bringing the doll to Comic-Con.

That's awesome! I wish I had the patience to do something like that. But I hardly have enough to make myself a skirt or an 18" doll dress. I like to chose the pattern, fabric and trims, cut it, sew it, and admire it on the doll all within a matter of hours, hehe.

I love the mullet.

Mac-a-lacka 06-10-2009 06:45 AM

That looks great! Nice job!

jekylljuice 06-10-2009 06:50 AM

That looks FANTASTIC! It's a really neat representation of Terrence - seriously, a professional plush-making company could not have done a better job.

Imaginary Light 06-10-2009 08:00 AM

That is awesome! It looks so much better than anything that could ever be mass produced. You should run a business selling these things.:P

Impressive work.

The entire facial expression is truly magneficent. I love the teeth

And a really excellent job on the shirt, all the details make for a direct counter-part to the television version of Terrence :D

Sparky 06-10-2009 06:40 PM

Thanks everyone. :D And now...

It had to be done. ;D

edit: I fixed his ears some, I think that will have to do because I'm tired of working on him, lol.

Looks good! Of course, an "I <3 Funny Bunny" pair of boxers is a must. Are his eyes and teeth completely embroidered in? At first I thought the white was a different piece of fabric inlaid, but now I'm seeing the shiny white thread. That's some handy machine you got, I'm glad you're having so much fun with it.

Sparky 06-10-2009 07:59 PM

Right no, its not applique its just straight satin embroidery.

(The link to him on DA is here btw, I just posted him.)

pitbulllady 06-11-2009 07:34 AM

I left you a comment over on DA, but I'll reiterate-he looks great, zits and all! Not only that, but he's probably the only Terrence doll out there, the only one I've seen, anyway. That makes your dolls so special, since they're one-of-a-kind, as well as being accurate, so detailed and faithful to the characters.

Oooh that is wonderful! I have been wanting to find time to make dolls and whatnot for a while, so this is really cool to see.

The I <3 FB boxers are hilarious 8D

BEST. UNDERWEAR. EVER.

And his ears look perfect.

Lol I'm a dork. Guitar came from Hong Kong, thanks to eBay. (It can light up and make sounds but the sounds are scary so I took the batteries out.) Sunglasses are from the Build-a-Bear place. He's also got a teddy-bear-sized backpack I got from Michaels, it contains a doll hairbrush so Terr can keep himself stylin'. Not pictured is the doll dresser from Michaels I painted to keep his extra clothes in. I've upgraded him to newborn shoes as they fit better, and what you can't see here is his belt, which is actually a collar for a small dog.

Lynnie 07-10-2009 07:58 PM

You're not a dork. You should see my dolls. And the pictures I've taken of them doing "every-day" type things. I have all sorts of not only clothes, but accessories and furniture for them. They can have their own little house! I love that guitar. One of my dolls has a violin. It doesn't play since it's too small, but it's made from real parts, it's really cool.

Cassini90125 07-10-2009 08:59 PM

Totally, totally cool. ;D

jekylljuice 07-11-2009 01:21 AM

Congratulations - your Terrence doll just broke the awesomeness meter.

Looks like a great time; almost makes me wish I'd gone along.

Terrence certainly gets around. 8D

Sparky 08-11-2009 08:35 PM

(Oh that was iceberg210 in some of the photos btw)

I missed a lot of it myself because of my feet, but it was still cool to go back there after so long. The frustrating thing for both GM and I was neither of us could find a single t-shirt we liked. That's why I had to at least buy one for Terrence so someone got a shirt! :P

KazooBloo 12-26-2016 03:28 AM

A bit creepy. Just look at those teeth.
