Lol. That was my mum's reaction when she saw the date as well! 8D

Huh. That sounds kind of like Foster's, actually. Kid gets older, gets rid of things from childhood. Could be quite a tear-jerker.

jekylljuice 05-29-2009 11:28 PM

Hmmm, June 2010 does seem like an awfully long time to wait right now, but it's good to finally have a release date in sight. :smed:

Anyway, since Slinky's in that teaser trailer I think it's more-or-less safe to assume that he'll be in the film itself...which finally puts an end to that age-old question.

Imaginary Light 05-30-2009 11:44 AM

Aww, I saw the trailer yesterday, and I can't wait.:P It looks so good (even from just what little look we got).

taranchula 05-30-2009 07:40 PM

To infinity and beyond and beyond and beyond!

Well that one teaser trailer has shot this film to the top of my summer of 2010 must watch list.

My secret wish for this movie is the triumphant return of Kelsey Grammer as Stinky Pete...(Okay, it probably won't happen but one can dream can't they?)

I too would love to see more from Pete. I have a hunch that they're more likely to go with a fresh new antagonist for this sequel rather than resurrect any older character arcs - Sid was nowhere to be seen in Toy Story 2, after all - but it would be cool if he could at least put in a cameo of sorts.

Speaking of Sid, I've always had this morbid curiousity to know what eventually became of him, though maybe it's for the best if we don't find out. In my mind, I'm happier if I leave him with that final image of Hannah exacting her long-awaited childish vengeance upon him (being a younger sibling myself, I always got a healthy serving of catharsis from that moment as a kid) than I am to actually think about the YEARS that poor kid must have gone on to spend on a psychiatrist's couch for his crippling phobia of all things small and plastic. :scribble:

Lol, rumors about this movie had been spreading around since at least 2005.

Interesting that it's confirmed now. Not much else to say.

It's actually been confirmed for a couple of years now, though circumstances have (thankfully) changed since the rumours originated. Back in 2005, when Disney's artistic integrity was really in the gutter and a split between them and Pixar seemed very likely, Disney was actually talking about doing a Toy Story 3 independently (since they would still have retained the rights to all Pixar films and characters made under their names). In the end, though, it didn't amount to much more than a dubious negotiation tactic on Disney's part - when John Lasseter took control of their animation department, their proposed sequel was shelved, and Pixar started work on a fresh one, the results of which we are seeing now.

EDIT: Oh, and I've heard that Michael Keaton's going to be in this, as the voice of Ken (Barbie's male counterpart). I don't know about anyone else, but I simply cannot wait to see that! ;D

Bloo4Ever 05-31-2009 10:38 PM

Yeah, I remember that, when Disney thought they were actually anywhere near as good as Pixar. Silly Disney. 8D

However, as Jekyll Juice mentioned about John Lasseter, Disney's animation has a chance again (can't wait for The Princess and The Frog :D)

However, what I'm concerned of regarding voices will be Wheezy, the Penguin in Toy Story 2. His voice actor died in 2005 unfortunately, and I was wondering if Pixar was still going to include him as a character in Toy Story 3, as they are doing with Slinky.

But more on the subject of VAs is the returning of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. Very glad they are returning, because the role would not be the same without them.

And even though 2010 is a long time away, Pixar/Disney are set to re-release Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2 in Disney Digital 3D before number 3's release.

Mew 06-01-2009 11:44 AM

I liked it! :D I'm a big fan of Toy Story (and Pixar in general), and it looks like it's going to be good. The summary still doesn't sound very good, but I guess we'll have to see. I also think they waited too long for another sequel, but! I'll pass judgement when I see it. Thanks for the link! :D

Ah, I see.

It's strange that they waited until now to make the sequel, like "Mew" said, but oh well. As long as it's good, people will be happy.

Major Abbey 06-26-2009 09:09 AM

Can't wait. I loved the first two and the animation looks great.

I must say, I'm glad Disney didn't do it without Pixar. I loved their solo CGI movies (sorry, I did; Chicken Little got me through some tough times) but if they really thought they could pull that off without Pixar, then I don't know what to say to them.

WorstPreviews.com has more info about the plot:

Now, during the Disney Animation Showcase in London, Pixar's John Lasseter revealed a few more details about the story of the new movie. And it turns out that WSJ's plot description was very close.

According to a clip that Lasseter showed, Andy is all grown-up and is getting reach to go to college, while Woody and the gang are being prepared to be sent to a storage container. At the last minute, Andy changes his mind and decides to hold on to Woody, who then goes on a mission to save his friends from a local daycare center.

It was also announced recently that Timothy Dalton (Hot Fuzz) has been cast as a stuck-up hedgehog named Mr. Pricklepants.

Invader Bloo 10-12-2009 12:15 PM

Can't wait for this movie.

Iron Man 2 & this alone will make next summer better than this summer. Plus, it'll make Disney a boat load of cash.

Another Castle 01-10-2010 06:30 AM

I have just watched the trailer for the fourth time and it looks brilliant- the franchise shows no signs of dying. The premise will keep it fresh, but there is one thing I am wondering- what have they done about Slinky Dog? His voice actor (Jim Varney, also known for Ernest P. Worrel) died 10 years ago now (!)- have they just got a replacement? I would have thought the character would not be included

antgirl1 01-11-2010 04:58 PM

Even if Slinky's voice was replaced, I still look forward to this. It's something I've waited for for years. I hope it's as wonderful as it looks. :D
