Frankie Practice. Need Your Opinions.

Here is the info: I am planning on doing a FHfIF/Sound of Music crossover. But I hadn't drawn Frankie before, so I tried sketching out a few different expressions. Because I want this crossover to be perfect, I want you to criticise me...And harshly. If you have any suggestions, I'll take those too. (Anyone know where to find a Frankie tutorial?)

I think you did a great job on all four of them, honestly. I like the first one the best, I love that pouty look. The second one seems a little off I suppose, I think her head is too oblong and her bangs are a bit too long. The fourth one her head seems small, and her chin has become flush with her neck. But I think the first and third are near perfect.

I agree. The first one I like the best. I think Cass is gonna love this.

You think correctly.

Hard to pick a favorite, really, but I'm kind of partial to #4, if only because she's wide-eyed and smiling. All look great.

Not only is Cass loving this, Subbeh is too! They look great, I'm liking the first one the best. You've got Foster's style down great, something I can't do. I'm always converting everything into my own style XD

Yay for people helping me! # 2 was actually the first one I did. I was trying to get the hang of her. But I ended up making her face look like Ron Stoppable's. (Poor Frankie!)

#4 was mostly to try doing profile. (I tend to do the lazy 45 degree angles.) But yeah...It is the only pic I did with her having wide "happy" eyes. Maybe I'm just starting to get use to her being angry at Funny Bunny?

Glad one of the ultimate Frankie fans liked my stuff. (I'm planning one doing and posting more practice work. I need to have her down before I start the Cross-over doodle!)

Subzeroace- I would draw them in my own style...But what would be the point? I love this style so much! Of course I'm still trying to learn it... Don't discouarge yourself! I bet you could do it!

Excellent job!

jekylljuice 01-28-2009 01:26 AM

I think that they're all very good! The fourth sketch is the only one which seems slightly off, largely because her chin seems to be of a slightly different shape to usual, but otherwise that's really very excellent for your first attempt at drawing her. I'm sure that your crossover is gonna rock.

So this is Frankie doing the Puppy Dog Pout then? Nice XD

Tada! Even more that I did just a few moments ago. Did it while watching The Great Mouse detective. (I know, that's my second time watching that movie today! Is there a type of rehab for those that get obsessed with things?)

Anywho, more honest thoughts please!

Mac-a-lacka 01-30-2009 04:29 PM

Again, excellent!

Cassini90125 01-30-2009 06:21 PM

I'm liking #2 the best, pretty much for the same reasons that I liked #4 in the last set. Love to see her smile. And her eyes... don't get me started on her eyes.

As before, great job!

Lynnie 01-30-2009 06:36 PM

Another great set HWH! I'm liking the second one best too. Aww, she looks so sad in the first one, good job on the expression. I can't decide if her bangs aren't long enough or her eyebrows are too low on her face, but that's all I can see off on the first one. Haha, is Bloo standing on her head in the third? At least she looks happy. I think overall, another excellent job!

I once had a fortune cookie that said, "The best way to predict the future is to create it." What does that have to do with anything? Nothing. I just wanted to point out that I had Chinese food today. *sticks out tounge*

Haha. Why is Bloo there? I really don't know. I wasn't paying any attention as I was watching my movie. He just popped up on his own. (Kinda wish that he didn't, because I didn't get to finish the "laying down smiling" Frankie. See, look at her hair! No finished pony-tail! NOOOOOOOO!)

Man...Frankie is so pretty! (Not my doodles, just in general) She is so much fun to draw. These, of course, were done from memory. I just tried recalling different episodes.

Thanks everyone. I think I may try some more practice stuff tonight. (And I might even start sketching out my cross-over pic)

EDIT: A new Frankie Practice page!
http://www.fosters-home.com/forum/pi...&pictureid=324

Bleh. I really messed up on Imaginary Frankie. Oh well. I'll dedicate this page to Cassini. (Two wide eyed smiling Frankies!) Now I'm off to bed, it's like past two am my time...

jekylljuice 01-31-2009 07:05 AM

More brilliance! Frankie #5 (the exasperated-looking one) would have to be my favouirte of the most recent batch.

Lynnie 01-31-2009 02:01 PM

I like the first one best, she looks relaxed and almost blissful. The others are all excellent though too, you've got her look down pat. Nice job with the drawing of yourself, too.

Government Man 02-03-2009 09:17 PM

Wow, these are getting better and better--good work!
