"Destination Imagination" nominated for Annie

Nominations for the Annie Awards, the top honors in the animation genre, are out, and Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends: Destination Imagination was nominated for Outstanding Animated Children's Program, one of four for Cartoon Network. The others for CN were Underfist: Halloween Bash, Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II and Moral Orel.

For the whole list, see here, at Jerry Beck's Cartoon Brew.

If ever there was a movie that deserved to win, Destination Imagination is it. Here's hoping!

Lynnie 12-01-2008 02:17 PM

This is perfection! The movie definitely deserves one! :yeah: And I'm also thrilled it got the nomination so soon after first airing.

And what a way to egress, stage right even as Snagglepuss would say if it wins even.

taranchula 12-01-2008 06:04 PM

Pretty eclectic group of nominees there.

Here's hoping our favorite show is left standing there when they reach the final bell.

Cause you're the best around, nothing is ever going to bring you down....

You're the best around....

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Okay, after seeing Destination Imagination on YouTube...

I vote for it to win!

Chaos Wielder 12-02-2008 03:41 PM

Cool, that's great. Hope it wins the Annie Award. ;)

Ccook50 12-03-2008 12:10 PM

Curious thing: It's nominated in the Children's Program category but its content rating was TV-PG. Some of the scarier elements, I guess.

Cassini90125 12-03-2008 12:17 PM

No doubt. In my view it was arguably the scariest story they've ever done. The climactic battle scene in particular was really gripping.

There is some competition, though. Nevertheless, I'm definitely rooting for Destination Imagination to pick up the victory. :yeah:

Destination Imagination already has an Emmy... she has long red hair, a spiky ponytail, and wears a green hoodie over a Mojo Jojo shirt

Seriously though, DI is worthy of an Emmy award or more.

BluebottleFlyer 12-08-2008 09:39 AM

Even though I have yet to see it, I hope "DI" does get the win. From what I've heard on here, it's a fantastic episode.:)

emperor26 12-08-2008 04:51 PM

This is fantastic!

I really hope Destination Imagination wins the Annie Awards. It truly deserves it. :D

Ccook50 01-31-2009 08:08 AM

Unfortunately, Avatar: The Last Airbender beat out Destination: Imagination for Best Children's Animated Television Production as well as the other category they were up for, Best Direction in an Animated Television Program or Short Form.

All Annies won by Cartoon Network were for Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II. All nominees and winners can be seen here.

Cassini90125 01-31-2009 08:14 AM

From this time forth, I will be disregarding the award. :frankiemad:

taranchula 01-31-2009 08:31 AM

A major disappointment to be sure, but there is more to life then award statuettes and the most important thing is that DI made a lot of people very very happy and in the big picture isn't that what matters the most?

[Slightly off topic]Geez what's with all the Kung Fu Panda love? That film took like every other award. Between that and the wins for Avatar, the conspiracy theorist in me is led to believe that Paramount may have greased the judges wheels a little...if you know what I mean? Of course the realist in me believes that is far from the truth, but stranger things have happened.

I read the news earlier this afternoon, and I am too sad to see the outcome. Ditto on what T said. It's just a statuette. And I believe D:I made more people happy than Avatar has. It's the judges who for some reason thought Avatar deserved the award better, probably because they were looking for certain qualities that Foster's doesn't have, and possibly was never even meant to have. No one should hold that against Foster's. We of course don't. :smed:

frankie_fan 01-31-2009 05:37 PM

I'm feeling quite ashamed right now.

Before I saw Destination Imagination, I was really rooting for Avatar to win, but since seeing DI, I really didn't want to put you guys down if I said that Avatar would win, but now that it won... :(

I really don't know what to say. I hope you guys forgive me for this. I never thought that DI would lose to Avatar. It's just that I am a Foster's fan, no doubt about that, but I'm also an Avatar fan, so I just really don't know whether to feel happy... or feel like a retard for going for Avatar and not Foster's.

I hope you'll forgive me! :(

Sparky 01-31-2009 05:57 PM

Er...I do. It's not like Foster's is even my favorite show of all time, and I run this place. 8D

WiltGirl 04-02-2009 11:51 AM

Awards arnt every thing, even if FHFIF doesnt eva get any awards (dunno if it has or not yet) we all know its cool so whats more important than that. :D

Nobody can tell you what to think, and the meaning of a forum is precisely the sharing of different opinions, right? :D

KazooBloo 12-06-2016 10:21 PM

It didn't win. :macwor:
