Foster's (Comic) art
First things first:
About the comic: After reading 'The Darkness of my Heart' on fanfiction.net, I (strangely enough) was inspired to do a Foster's comic, which is slightly based on that fanfic. The comic should be appearing in the book 'C.R.A.P. (Collection of Random Art and Prose): Rise of the Mary-Sue's'. About the characters: Mac, Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo, Coco, Cheese, Frankie, Ringo-Rango and Eurotrish will all appear in the comic and will (off course) remain in-character. There will also be a mystery-character and an original character (due to the story-rules for the full comic-book). About the story: When OC Vera enters the home, she's supposed to fullfill one simple task: to be the Mary-Sue of the story and therefor attract all attention to herself. But her plans fall apart as there is another, bigger Mary-Sue in the home, taunting the other Friends by writing weird and not-even-funny stories about the gang. Can Vera find out who's the mysterious writer before the comic runs out of panels? And now, for the art! (The cover) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...greyscales.png (Character design of Vera) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...gOnes/vera.png Enjoy, and please tell me your opinion! |
Looks pretty good thus far.

Love the expression on Vera's face with Bloo climbing on her head. 8D |
You're getting off to good start there, Natty. I think you draw Coco particularly well. :)
|
Hahaha, thank you, thank you!
Vera looks very human because she's been created by a 40-year-old Otaku that lived in his mother's basement and simply loved neko's and kitsune's. Because of her overly-feminine features, Vera likes to dress in baggy clothing. I'm very glad you like her looks :D Hopefully, you'll like her personality, too! |
What is Cheese saying on the cover? It looks like "I like flams" but I'm not sure.
|
He is saying 'I like Flams', yes. It's a joke, coming from the usual 'stop flamming meh' line that the author of the fanfic is calling out in caps-lock every single chapter.
Just in case you haven't seen the fic yet: (Link temporarily removed pending review) It's darned awefull, I can tell you that! Bad grammar, cursing, out-of-character-Friends and a Mary-Sue that make all Mary-Sues look like great ideas! You have been warned! |
Lol, I like how everyone's hiding behind Wilt. Great job so far - and Vera looks awesome. But I hope she "deSue-fies" somehow. :D
I REALLY look forward to reading the comic-to-come! :D |
While I like the artwork here, I've got to question how ANYONE with a brain could be inspired by the creation of a troll, and that's what the "author" of "Darkness of My Heart" is-a troll. I don't see how you can keep the Foster's characters "in-character" at ALL, if the comic is based on that piece of garbage, since in what little I've gotten through without having to go throw up, they're anything BUT "in-character". It's just badly written porn, intended more to make fun of Foster's fans than anything else. If "God Awful Fanfiction" was still up, that "story" would be prime material.

I don't know, maybe a "retelling" of "What REALLY Happened" where the annoyingness of the Sue is noticed right away by the Foster's characters and they don't fall for her junk? Where the Foster's characters are as they really ARE, and not "goffik emos"? How the IN-CHARACTER Foster's people would react to just a nightmare of a Mary-Sue, or a "migraine accident that went wrong"...Something like that, maybe? I honestly haven't a clue, but she sure is genius actually coming up with this. *shrug* |
I love that cover. Nice cover to what I'm sure is a creative comic. :)
Nice design on Vera, too. I hope Bloo doesn't make her life too miserable. 8D |

Off course, it's satire! She makes fun of us, I make fun of her, though my attempt is more funny. |

Agreed, though I usually let such comments slide past because I know I do have a brain...

I am very proud of my screen name, and part of it IS because I don't pull punches and suck up to people, especially those less than half my age. You did NOT explain that you were satirizing that "story", and in fact, from your statement, it makes it seem more like you are paying homage to it. "Satire" is a tad too friendly a statement for what it needs, honestly. The writer isn't just "making fun of us", but goes well beyond that. Again, I do not see how it's possible to even "satirize" that so-called fanfic without stooping to an even more abysmal low than the writer already has done, but I'll give you the benefit of a doubt and see if you can pull it off, while still keeping the characters "in character", and more importantly, keeping it clean. It will be a real challenge to satirize porn without making more of the same, or at least giving some credence to it.

Dare I ask: Would that make you 46/47 years old, then? I'm 22 years old, so if I'm 'not even half your age'... :)
Anyway, let's let this rest until I've completely written the script for the comic, shall we? There's no use in discussing something that hasn't even been brought into the world in the first place. I thought the comic's cover was good enough to let people know that the characters are scared of said Mary-Sue (the one from the horrible fiction). Do not worry, Pitbulllady, I've got four Foster-fans in my team of editors and advisors, and there's also a professional comic-artist that guides me and will probably smack the back of my head if I even dare to cross the lines (when it comes to OOCness, controversy and such). Therefor, the comic will not have any emo, goth, porn, abuse and whatever more in it! I am very sure that I'll be able to create a good comic, don't worry! I hope you're satisfied with this answer, and like I said: let's let it rest untill it'll actually be written and drawn :D Let's be (Imaginary) Friends now *hug* |
I really like your art, and the cover - and argh, all that Vera doesn't have to be a Mary Sue are some cute little angel wings (going back in this Fan-Art forum you'll see a thread by me where I represent, drawn very badly, how a typical Foster's Mary Sue looks). Good job :)
|
Thank you very very much, that's good to hear!
Vera won't be a realy Mary-Sue, to be honest. All Mary-Sue characters in the book are failing miserably at their main-task :P |
Which will undoubtably make for very entertaining reading. :bendy:
Looking forward to the results. ;D |

Sure will do!
Currently making a Bomango / Foster's crossover pic, by the way... Starring Gogo Bomango as Frankie and Andy as Mac in Good Wilt Hunting - the misunderstood version! |
I felt like offing myself when i read that fanfic, he/she probably comes from 4chan.
|
Oooh, the cover is great! Can't wait to see more =)
|
I, unlike others here, haven't read said fanfiction. I'm almost afraid to now! But I too am looking forward to this.
Man. I missed you guys. ;___; |
Everyone! CG HAS TEH RETURNED!
|
QUICK. RUN FOR THE HILLS. I BITE.
|
I have no hills!! Welcome back, CG! :D
Moving onto the comic itself... I made the mistake of reading the fic in question once and it was scary. I was actually somewhat offended, and it takes a lot to offend me, and I wrote a nice long reveiw (posted here on DA, filter on for references to fic itself). Therefore, if you can satirize this, I will be laughing my butt off. 8D |

.. err, no pun intended... |
Hi Natty,
This is really starting to take shape; not to mention the tons of possibilities in the ideas department:D Take it from another artist who has developed his own characters. "Rotorhedz" is based on my life in the Navy, and it takes place in a helicopter squadron. I figured I can tell my "sea stories" through Megan, Kristi, Jon, and Commander Landers (some of the characters). Sorry, I am rambling - great stuff here! |
Oh, I know! I've created a whole lot of characters, myself. A few of my original comics are Double Dutch, Issen o Koeru and Heaven Forbid... I've created so many characters, that I'll be drawing 'AFHs home for Original Characters' for a certain well-sold anthology-book that gets published every summer.
I'm thinking about drawing a little portrait of every character I've ever created, and put them in vewwy curly Foster-ish frames! |

Update: Lauren gave me the OK, as long as the comic isn't actually for sale. That won't be a problem, since the comic is non-profit ^.^
|
Warning: Knocked-out Wilt and Gogo Bomango dressed up as Frankie.
It was meanth for a crossover-contest. |
Please do not fear to comment, even if it's through pm!
|
As I said via PM, I liked it a lot. What's that thing on Bloo's head? I didn't notice that before.
|
Woah, I kinda sorta lost track of this!!
Cass, that's Pablo on top of Bloo's head :P It's Gogo Bomango's little blue rainbow-pooping Teddyracoonusset. Please, don't ask me what a Teddyracoonusset is. ANYWAY I've been waaaaaayy busy doing a Shakes the Clown comic, that'll be presented to Tom Kenny during the S.D.C.C. of this year! If I'm allowed to, I could show y'all a few pages...? |
Quote:
|
Thats just the thing, Sparkmeister, it's not Foster's-related  It's about Shakes the Clown (movie in which Tom 'Eduardo' Kenny played
|
Then you may put it in Way Off Topic. Or maybe Other Entertainment if its for a movie. Put it where you think its appropriate. :)
|
I look forward to seeing it, and it's good to see you here again. :)
